August 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Douglas Joseph Langlois, on August 23, 2025, at the age of 76, with family by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves his legacy with his loving wife of 54 years, Faye Bernadine Langlois (Moltz); his children Chad (Lisa), Blair (Jenny), Aaron (Mellisa), Nathan (Tara), and Aimee (Mike); 17 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; his sisters Velma Szatkowski (David Augustine) and Tracey McGillivray (Wade); sisters-in-law Brenda Norman (Doug), Traci Ethier (Paul), brother-in-law Richard Moltz (Laura); nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family has comfort in knowing that Bill is now reunited with his mom Margaret Langlois, dad Paul Langlois, and sister Doreen Langlois, father-in-law Richard Moltz, mother-in-law Bernadine Moltz, and great-grandson Liam Smith, whose memories he carried with him always.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on April 20, 1949, Bill was raised on the family farm where he developed a deep love for the land, a strong work ethic, and a deep sense of community. Though his roots were in farming, Bill’s career path reflected his willingness to take on any job that needed doing. He began as a milkman with Co-op Creameries, worked for the Department of Highways before moving on to positions at IPSCO and running plow cat for Achen Construction. Eventually, he took to the open road, embracing life as a trucker—an occupation that suited his independent spirit and quiet strength all while continuing to farm with his Dad. Even after stepping away from full-time work, Bill continued with his love of farmwork for friends, working for KPCL and Ames Construction to help build the new K+S Potash mine, and hauling his collection of scrap metal to the big town of Regina.
Bill was a kind and gentle soul who found joy in the simple things. He could often be found tinkering around the farm, being with his family, or sharing stories over a cold one with friends. He was very knowledgeable with the history of his family tree, our country and the war years, always reading or watching the History channel. A lifelong fan of John Deere, he had a sharp eye for antiques and a passion for auctions. He never missed a chance to bring home a “treasure”—even when Faye gently reminded him there was no room for more.
A simple man at heart, Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, quiet sense of humor, and his infectious smile. He found happiness in the small moments of life — lived with grit, heart, and a little bit of rusted iron.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to the Palliative Care Team at Pasqua Hospital in Regina for the exceptional care they gave Bill during his final days.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Bethune Cemetery, Box 172, Bethune, SK, S0G 0H0.
In lieu of flowers, raise a glass and cheers to Billy.
