Mack, Terry R.

January 16, 2026

Terry R. Mack

Terry, our gentle giant, passed away as he had lived his life - with certainty, dignity, quiet reserve and no regrets. Although he leaves us broken hearted, we know we are better people for having had him in our lives.

Terry leaves behind his wife, Margot; parents Olga and Ivan; his sisters Carla (Chris), Pam, Krista; brother and sisters-in-law Dick, Joanne, Jean; and all the kids who called him “Uncle”: Logan, Carson, Andon, Emery; Chad (Erika), Jasmyn; Chelsea (Jon), Marissa (Dallas), Aiden (Taryn); Janice (Grant), Patrick (Stacy); Alicia (Chad), Graham (Renee); Rhys and Berit. Close on their heels, are those who knew him as ‘Great Uncle’: Austin; Aubree, Brynleigh; Olivia, Paisyn, Lexie; Jack, Isla, Wyatt, Jake; Alexander and Kashton. Terry also leaves a beloved league of aunts, uncles, cousins and life-long friends.

Terry was predeceased by his parents-in-law Alan and Elva and brothers-in-law Glen and Rod.

Terry was truly a diverse individual with a plethora of interests and passions. And if a list was created it would definitely include a love of all music (country at his core), sports (curling in particular; golfing 2nd best), theatre (Shakespeare for sure), classic movies (It’s a Wonderful Life), vintage TV (WKRP in Cincinnati his last binge), technology (made a career of it), mathematics (holding Margot to a budget!!), solving problems (without commotion), farming (in his heart of hearts), travel (thoroughly planned), chess (loved strategizing), a dram of single malt scotch (Wee Beastie a favourite) and especially Christmas (married an Elf). He also hosted a collection of fiction and non-fiction to suit anyone’s genre and so, although a man of few words in many instances, he could literally converse about anything.

Terry truly loved a good visit, so when any invitation was received, he saw that as a golden opportunity to catch-up with family or friends and he committed himself to being present at those occasions.

To that end, a gathering will be held this spring to celebrate Terry and to actualize that same golden opportunity, that he always honoured, and have a truly good visit.

Margo I am sorry to hear of the passing of Terry. He will be missed but not forgotten. He was a considerate man and never missed the opportunity to coach Mya at the curling Rink.

Rest in Peace I will see you in the future

I hadn’t spent time with my cousin in recent years, but I was fortunate as a kid to have spent a lot of time with Terry on our family farm. He was often there and ready to help whenever needed, and was great friends with my big bro, and they were quite the duo! I’ll never forget when they rolled one of our grain trucks and walked back to the farmhouse (due to the water tank in the truck box and not bro's driving, ofc haha). When they arrived, it was quite a scene as they were banged up and bloodied, but the thing that sticks out in my memory is that I can recall Terry chuckling about it. And I can say that my most distinct memory of Terry is his laugh; it was infectious, and I can still hear it in my mind. As I think about him now, I can’t recall a memory where he didn’t have a smile on his face. He was always very interesting to listen to; when he was enthusiastic about a subject, he was almost animated, and that always drew people in. To those who were close to him, especially as he battled, I’m so very sorry - you have suffered a great loss.

My deepest condolences to you, Margot, Olga, Ivan, and sisters. Terry was more than a friend to me—he was a brother in every sense that matters. From the time we were young, I looked up to him and admired him deeply. We grew up side by side, inseparable in those early years, building a lifetime of memories from the simplest moments: lever hockey and cards in our pajamas on Christmas mornings at Grandma and Grandpa’s, long walks to the arcade, and the daily drives to school that somehow felt like adventures. The days we spent together at the farm remain among the most meaningful of my life. We worked from sunrise to dusk, then stayed up late talking about the universe, life, and everything we hoped to become. Those conversations shaped me. His presence steadied me. Terry had a rare loyalty—he was the kind of person you could depend on without question. We also shared a moment that changed us forever—a brush with death that bound us in a way words can’t fully explain. From that day on, we lived with a quiet gratitude, knowing that every sunrise was a gift, that time itself was sacred. Terry lived as a thoughtful, loving, and responsible man. The world is poorer without him—but far richer for the life he lived and the love he gave. He is already deeply missed, and he will always be remembered and loved.

Margot and family,

We deeply saddened by your loss. He was far more than a curling coach and true friend.... he was a mentor, teacher, guiding presence, and a true father figure to so many. His patience, kindness, and love for the game of curling shaped not only better curlers, but better people while he was mentoring Mya's teams. We will always be grateful for the lessons he taught both on and off the ice. If it weren't for Terry morning breakfast at the rink would never have happened. All the trips to Moose Jaw..and the bonspiels... Terry will never be forgotten and will always hold a seat at the Christmas party, back yard BBQ's, happy hour, celebrations of every event. Please know you are in our thoughts always. Tami, Mya, Dylan and Beau of course
