November 5, 2024
Sherman passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 after a short, hard fight with cancer at the age of 71. Sherman was cared for during his last few days by the wonderful team in the Palliative Care Unit at Regina Pasqua Hospital. The staff were accommodating and kind during Sherman’s time on the unit. The family would also like to mention how amazing the Social Worker Kristine G. was to work with and how kind she was.
Sherman was predeceased by wife Darlene Wilson; his parents Hurley Wilson Sr. and Cordelia Wilson; his siblings Mae, Doris, Rose, Hurley Jr., Grace, Joe, Howard, Otis and Fred. Sherman leaves behind his son Pete and daughter Samantha; siblings Faris Sr., Curtis Sr., Albert and Larry; grandchildren Miles, Nevaeh, Cruz and Ryder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Sherman was born in Seguin, Texas on February 20, 1953, he was the 13th of 14 children. He was part of the last draft during the Vietnam War serving under the United States Air Force 91st MMS Missile Base from 1971 – 1975 in Minot, North Dakota. He met Darlene at “The Old Gold” in Regina, Saskatchewan and then moved onto base in Minot where they would later marry on November 22, 1975. In 1976 they welcomed their first-born son Peter and in 1979 they welcomed their daughter Samantha. They moved back to Canada in the 80’s where they would reside in Regina and call that their final home. Sherman worked security for many years retiring as Head of Security at the Best Western Seven Oaks in 2018. He also owned his own barbershop where he met many people and made many friends.
Sherman was a soulful man who could light up a room when he entered it. Sherman was an active member of the Shiloh Assembly Apostolic Church where he spent a lot of time praising the Lord, visiting and singing the gospel. He lived a life of prayer, and found a sense of belonging amongst the Caribbean, African and Jamaican communities that has grown immensely in Regina since Sherman has arrived here in the early 80’s.
We would like to invite you to join us in Celebrating the Home Going of Sherman on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive. Regina, Saskatchewan. Livestream of the service can be viewed at: https://westhilllive.ca/.

Pete and Sam & Families, my sincere sympathies on the passing of your father & grandfather. Working with Sherman at the Seven Oaks for 30 years had it moments and we sure had our fair share of disagreements but how you could stay mad at Sherman for any length of time. It was always nice to finish the shift and just hang out, watch the Discovery Channel and chit chat. Sherman gave me a polished Amythyst Stone one night. I still have it on my dresser and from now on, everytime I look at it I will remember the good man that he was. May he rest in peace.
