It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Schmiedge (nee Litwin) on August 31, 2026 at William Booth Special Care Home.

She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Polly Litwin; husband Walter; her sisters Victoria Litwin, Helen Miller, Mary Ellis, Anne Wilson and Emma Barwick; her brothers Edward, Mike, Leo and Henry; a niece, a nephew and numerous relatives and friends.

Rose will be greatly missed and forever loved by her daughter Shirley (Bernie) Ripplinger; granddaughter Rhonda Lingelbach (Shawn Slinn); grandson Conrad Wrigley; great-grandchildren Vanessa (Brent), Cody (Breeann), Ashley and Tanner; great great-grandchildren Mikaylee, Mackenzie, Lyle, Ellora and Aria. She also has three step grandchildren Carmen (Paul) Herward, Cathy (Mark) MacFadden and Mark (Amy) Ripplinger; seven step great-grandchildren Kayla (Nick), Justin (Tamara), Megan (Tyson), Avery, Mason, Sophie and Aubrie; 4 step great great-grandchildren Mazie, Ozias, Miri and Beckham; sister-in-law Penny Litwin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rose was born on April 10, 1925 on the family farm near Bankend, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the family farm and worked for various farmers after she had to quit grade 5. In 1946 she moved to Windsor, Ontario where she took a practical nursing course which she passed with an “A”. She worked at the Christie Hospital in Windsor until she met Walter her future husband. They moved back to Bankend where they were married on October 29, 1949. On February 23, 1950 their daughter Shirley was born. They stayed and lived on the farm until 1953 then moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Then in 1955 they moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. Rose went to work at Sears in 1959 in the returns department until 1986 when she had to quit due to health reasons.

Rose was a loving, compassionate and caring women. She touched the hearts of those she met and had many memorable times with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She had a never-ending love for her family and would do anything for them.

The family would like to extend a heart warming thank you to Dr. Oluma, nurses and staff of the William Booth Special Care Home for their care and compassion they gave Rose over the last 6 years.

As per Rose’s wishes a Private Family Services will be held. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Rose’s memory to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
