Robert Ohrt passed away peacefully in the Regina General Hospital with his son Tracy by his side on July 16, 2026 at the age of 87.
Bob was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Doris Ohrt (nee Lamarsh) and his parents Peter and Selma Ohrt.
He is survived by his son Tracy Ohrt; sister-in-law Carol Lamarsh; brothers-in-law Robert (Delores) Lamarsh and Roy (Eileen) Lamarsh; nieces Nancy (Danny) Nagel and Barb (Don) Shepherd; nephews Cary (Catherine) Badowsky, Leonard Lamarsh, Scott Lamarsh and Ryley (Mary Ann) Lamarsh; cousins Allen, John (Jelienne), Allan (Rena), Ethan (Mackenzie), Alyssa (Bryson), Heather, Holly (Ian), Haley (Tim), Jule (Charley), Harry, Dawn, David (Cynthia), Robert (Wendy), Bonny (Ben), and Lyne.
Bob was born July 6, 1939 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Peter and Selma Ohrt. He grew up on the farm in Corrine and Regina, Saskatchewan. Bob was proud to have attended Sunny Corners School, Luther High School and the School of Agriculture, where through those years he made many memories and many friends.
While in the School of Ag at the University of Saskatchewan, Bob met Doris, who was a secretary in the Kirk Hall building the floor below his dorm room. Doris recounted that “those boys used to annoy us with their stomping, roughhousing, laughing and yelling coming through the ceiling above our desks” during her work. Bob eventually invited Doris on a date one day and the rest became their history.
Bob and Doris were married in 1962 and had their only child Tracy in 1971.
After Ag School graduation, Bob worked one winter in Thompson, Manitoba before returning to Milestone, Saskatchewan to continue farming until 1990. Bob also ran his own skidoo repair shop, worked at a motorcycle repair shop and worked for Paul and Neal Haack in their garage.
Bob enjoyed volunteering, helping at early skidoo races, a leader in Cub Scouts, and a member of the local Lions Club. Bob’s favorite hobby was fishing which he enjoyed any time he was able to go.
Eventually, his interest and learning of repairing air conditioning and appliance repair spurred him to start Milestone Appliance, a job he thoroughly enjoyed as much as all the people he met. He missed the people, the friends and the work after his health didn’t allow him to continue the physical aspect of the job, forcing him to retire. However, he would often be happy to be called to consult on repairs for people right up until he passed.
Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 2:00 0.m. in the Elks Hall, 125 Main Street, Milestone, Saskatchewan. Cookies and refreshments will be held following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask any donations in Bob’s memory be made to Milestone Carrington Court, Box 445, Milestone, SK S0G 3L0 or to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
