Richard Champlone

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Richard on June 29, 2025. Richard died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on May 29, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was the only child of Sam and Rose Champlone. Richard was raised in Winnipeg, where he completed his schooling and started a family.

In 1984, Richard moved his family to Regina, Saskatchewan. From 1984 to 1986 Richard served as an assistant to the Minister of Labour, in the provincial government. From 1986 and onward, Richard dabbled in the construction industry. He then went on to running a few different restaurants, with the DINER in Balgonie being his last restaurant venture.

In 2018, Richard helped his partner, Susan Ulmer open a treatment centre in Regina, Susan Ulmer Addiction Services where he served as Executive Director. Richard has helped many, many people save themselves and he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Richard was predeceased by his partner Susan Ulmer in January 2024. He is survived by his two sons Jim and Dino (Thea) and one granddaughter Aurora Champlone. He is also survived by his chosen family, Rainy Thompson, Dallas Bighead, Michael Thorimbert, Shean Stewart, along with numerous friends and associates.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wa Wa Shrine Temple, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, Saskatchewan.

In lieu of flowers, Richard’s wishes were to have memorial donations made to Susan Ulmer Addiction Services, 2024 Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2T7 (contact@susanulmer.ca).
