It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Philip (Phil) Bank, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Phil passed peacefully, with his children at his side on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Born on October 24, 1955, Phil was a loving father to Stephen and Sarah (Allan) and a proud grandfather to Madison, Annika, and Kelsie.

He is also survived by his loving sister Joey, who was a constant source of love and support, particularly following Phil’s debilitating stroke in 2025. Her unwavering care and devotion meant so much to Phil. He enjoyed all of the good food she brought him each evening, never one to turn down a cheeseburger, and together they shared a love of sweets!

He will also be lovingly remembered by his niece Nicole (Trent), nephews Ryan and Tysen (Chantille) and their families, along with many extended family members and friends.

Phil was predeceased by his parents Wanda and Ted Bank; his beloved sister Debbie, whose passing deeply affected him and left a lasting hole in his heart; and his brother-in-law and friend Gary Piniach.

Phil was a kind and quiet man who had a gentle way about him and was wonderful to everyone around him. He didn’t need to be the centre of attention to make an impression. His kindness, warmth, and caring nature touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Phil enjoyed many things throughout his life, including softball, bowling and many, many rounds of golf. He also valued the friendships and memories he made through his membership at the Eagles Club and then the Serbian Club. These friendships meant so much to Phil, and his close friends continued to visit dad after his stroke and in the care home. Their continued visits meant everything to Phil, and brought so much comfort to his family. We would like to thank everyone who took time to visit him and brighten his days.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and staff at Sunset Special Care Home for the care, kindness, and compassion they provided to Phil.

Phil had a lifelong love of music. He was always singing a song. The song “Home on the Range” by John Denver, was one he loved to sing to his children. Those memories of his voice singing that song will remain with his family forever.

Dad, you sang to us about home. After a long and difficult journey, you are home now.

Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil’s memory to Sunset Special Care Home Family Advisory Council Board (by e-transfer to: sunsetadvisoryboard@gmail.com or cheques can be made out to Sunset Family Advisory Board and dropped off at the care home).
