Godfrey, Peter George

June 13, 2024

Peter George Godfrey

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband and Papa, Peter George Godfrey, late of Bulyea, Saskatchewan on June 13, 2024 at the age of 63.

Peter was predeceased by his father George; his mother-in-law Phyllis; and numerous close friends.

Peter was born on September 7, 1960 to Grace and George Godfrey and shortly after they immigrated from the United Kingdom to Regina, Saskatchewan. Peter’s cheekiness caused a lot of trouble in his younger years for his teachers. He was a bit of a prankster and liked to keep everyone on their toes. When he was 19, he met the love of his life Bonnie. She became his wife in 1982, mother of their three children and towards the end of his life, his dedicated caregiver. Throughout his life Peter had many interests and talents. He liked to fish, play the drums, tinker in the garage and had a deep love for music. He was extremely resourceful and would often make tools and instruments out of practically nothing, ask anyone about his flyswatters! Peter loved to laugh and love to make others laugh. His kids can fondly recall a time when they were very little on Halloween. They were out trick-or-treating with Bonnie and Peter had given out KFC to the neighbourhood children as he had run out of candy. There were no complaints from the kids - they even came back for more! Peter and Bonnie eventually moved their family to Regina Beach, Saskatchewan where they raised their children. Once the children were grown and moved out, they moved to Bulyea where they remained until his passing.

Although his time on earth was cut short, he will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, stubbornness, adoration for his grandkids and love for music. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 42 years Bonnie; their children Mandy (Devin), Melissa (Tanner) and Peter; his grandchildren Hunter, Jackson, Emersyn, Hudson and Nash; his mother Grace; his brother Paul; sisters-in-law Sandy and Cheryl (Myles); brother-in-law Jamie; father-in-law Don; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A special thanks to Peter and Bonnie’s wonderful neighbours, special aunts and uncles for their support and help throughout Peter’s final years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Growing up in the 60' and 70' In that neighborhood was a real treat. Lots of kids, things to do and real opportunities to make memories with solid friends and one of them was Peter. "Prankster" is putting it lightly. We sure had fun times in the summer once school let out and the neighborhood was in peril once we were let loose. I always remember the uncontrolled belly laughing when Peter was around. A special gem you are and your precious presence will be missed but never forgotten in our minds and hearts. Murray Rogoza
