Noël Joseph Doucet passed away peacefully in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 24, 2026, at the age of 83.

Noël was born in Orillia, Ontario, on December 24, 1942 to Aldéric and Thérèse Doucet. His birth on Christmas Eve gave way to his name, Noël, which would carry with it a lovely story to tell throughout his lifetime. He spent his childhood in Cowansville, Quebec, where he was raised in a close-knit family of eight siblings. At the age of 24, he moved to Windsor, Ontario, to start his career in education.

Noël would remain in the Windsor area for over 30 years, teaching math and French at l’École secondaire catholique l'Essor. He had two children, Eric and Lizanne, and cultivated many friendships, notably Jacques, Gloria, Lucien and the Delisle family. When Noël retired from teaching, he returned to his roots in the Eastern townships of Quebec. Here, he reconnected with his siblings and enjoyed playing golf with his friend Robert.

Noël then became a grandpapa to three grandchildren, Logan, Sophie and Gabrielle, travelling often to see them, from Nova Scotia, to Ontario, to Saskatchewan. A generous man, Noël was always ready to lend a hand and even moved in with his daughter for a year to take care of Gabrielle during her pre-school days. In 2021, Noël decided to join his daughter in their move to Regina, Saskatchewan, where he spent the remainder of his days in the company of family and playing bridge with his Stockton Loft friends.

Enjoying an active lifestyle, Noël was always ready to swim, ski, golf or take a walk around the block. He was known for his sociable nature and warm sense of humor, cherishing moments of laughter and time spent in good company—whether watching a hockey game, playing cards, or sharing a memorable meal at Red Lobster.

Noël was predeceased by his parents Aldéric et Thérèse; his brother Roger; his sisters Lise and Christianne; and his son Eric who passed much too young. He will forever be remembered by his daughter Lizanne (Glenn); their children Logan, Sophie and Gabrielle; his brothers Guy (Madeleine), Paul (Louise), Jean, and Gilles (Lynda); his sister Sylvie (Serge); many nieces and nephews; and dear friends across many provinces.

A Service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make donations in Noël’s memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family extends their thanks to the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, the Pasqua Hospital MSU, and the William Booth Grace Hospice, all located in Regina, Saskatchewan, for their attentiveness, compassion, and care.

Sa naissance la veille de Noël lui a valu son prénom, Noël, qui allait être associé à une belle histoire tout au long de sa vie. Il a passé son enfance à Cowansville, au Québec, où il a grandi au sein d'une famille très unie, composée de huit frères et sœurs. À l'âge de 24 ans, il s'est installé à Windsor, en Ontario, pour commencer sa carrière dans l'enseignement.

Noël est resté dans la région de Windsor pendant plus de 30 ans, enseignant les mathématiques et le français à l'École secondaire catholique l'Essor. Il a eu deux enfants, Eric et Lizanne, et s'est fait de nombreux amis, notamment Jacques, Gloria, Lucien et la famille Delisle. Lorsque Noël a pris sa retraite de l'enseignement, il est retourné à ses racines dans les Cantons-de-l'Est, au Québec. Là, il renoue avec ses frères et sa sœur, et prend plaisir à jouer au golf avec son ami Robert.

Noël est ensuite devenu grand-père de trois petits-enfants, Logan, Sophie et Gabrielle, et voyageait souvent pour leur rendre visite, que ce soit en Nouvelle-Écosse, en Ontario ou en Saskatchewan. Homme généreux, Noël est toujours prêt à donner un coup de main et a même emménagé chez sa fille pendant un an pour s'occuper de Gabrielle durant sa période préscolaire. En 2021, Noël a décidé de rejoindre sa fille à Régina, en Saskatchewan, où il a passé le reste de ses jours en compagnie de sa famille et à jouer au bridge avec ses amis du Stockton Loft.

Menant une vie active, Noël était toujours prêt à nager, skier, jouer au golf ou faire une promenade dans le quartier. Il était connu pour son caractère sociable et son sens de l'humour chaleureux, appréciant les moments de rire et le temps passé en bonne compagnie, que ce soit en regardant un match de hockey, en jouant aux cartes ou en partageant un repas mémorable au Red Lobster.

Noël a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents Aldéric et Thérèse, son frère Roger, ses sœurs Lise et Christianne, ainsi que son fils Éric, décédé beaucoup trop jeune. Il restera à jamais dans la mémoire de sa fille Lizanne (Glenn) et de leurs enfants Logan, Sophie et Gabrielle ; de ses frères Guy (Madeleine), Paul (Louise), Jean et Gilles (Lynda) ; de sa sœur Sylvie (Serge) ; de ses nombreux neveux et nièces ; et de ses chers amis répartis à travers plusieurs provinces.

Une cérémonie aura lieu à une date ultérieure. Ceux qui souhaitent faire un don en mémoire de Noël peuvent le faire à la Société canadienne du cancer. La famille remercie le personnel du Centre de cancérologie Allan Blair, de l'unité de soins intensifs de l'hôpital Pasqua et de l'hospice William Booth Grace à Regina, pour leur attention, leur compassion et leurs soins.
