Harris (nee Wirta), Michelle Jennifer

July 2, 2026

Michelle Jennifer Harris (nee Wirta)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, daughter, sister, aunt to many nieces and nephews and friend, Michelle Jennifer Harris, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 peacefully in her home with her mother and sisters by her side.

Michelle was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario on the family farm in Pearson Township which started her love of horses. She attended Whitefish Valley Public School and commenced high school at Selkirk High and graduated from Churchill High. She then started hairdressing school in Thunder Bay but decided to move to Regina, Saskatchewan and completed hairdressing school in Regina. She gained employment at Wavelength followed by Adiva Hair Salon and most recently from Beauty Depot until diagnosed with her illness in March.

She lived in Regina for a number of years and welcomed the birth of her two children, Liam and Ella Harris, whom she adored. She then moved to Vibank, Saskatchewan when she purchased their home in 2010. She loved nothing more than her flower and vegetable gardens and bonfires in her backyard. She was content living in this small community surrounded by caring friends and neighbours. Her door was always open to friends and relatives locally or those who travelled from afar.

Throughout her employment, she gained countless friends, whether clients or co-workers. Michelle loved a good house party, country music, and to have a dance, especially with her father.

Michelle is survived by her children Liam Harris and Ella Harris (Justin Bugiera); father of her children Howard Harris; her mother Sandra Wirta; her sisters Lydia Merritt (Chris Homac), Debbie Hale (Jim Hurlbert), and Tammy Pollak (Steven Livingstone); special niece Lydia Pollak; great-nephew Noel Pollak; niece Jade (Evan) Kary and their son River; the Pelzer family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her five closest friends, referred to as the “hens” Tammy, Shannon, LeeAnn, Kim, and Joanne; and her cat, Lumi.

Michelle was predeceased by her father Fred Wirta and her brothers Barry and Stanley Wirta.

A Celebration of Life is set for Friday, July 10, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the residence of Evan and Jade Kary, 170 Township Road, where we will gather to share our stories and memories about our beloved Michelle. Please be prepared to share as well if you so wish. Directions to the Celebration of Life are head east on Highway 1, turn right on to Highway 35 headed south. Turn right on Township Road 170, it is the first farm with the big white barn. Google Pin: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ec5cuoSMii33HmHB9?g_st=ipc. Don’t follow the Google Maps directions until you’ve reached Highway 35 because it will take you down gravel roads.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michelle’s memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre or to the Regina Humane Society.
