With shattered hearts, the family of Micheal Peterson announces his sudden passing on September 2, 2026 at the age of 38.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on September 18, 1987, Micheal was the eagerly awaited brother to two older sisters. He grew up full of energy, playing sports and spending endless winter hours at the outdoor rink across from his home. At age 10, Mike survived a severe accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury and enduring physical limitations. He faced months of difficult rehabilitation with quiet resilience and grit. Though the injury altered his original life path, Mike went on to earn a welding certificate from SIAST, and later achieved his 1A driver’s license.

Micheal held himself to an uncommon standard as an employee, pouring immense pride into his work whether it was at Loraas Disposal, Kelln Solar, or Metal Experts. Known for his dedication, loyalty and strong work ethic, Mike consistently earned the quiet respect and camaraderie of his coworkers and supervisors. Most recently, he found true satisfaction behind the wheel, embracing the independence and responsibility of truck driving.

Outside of work, Mike also took pride in meticulously maintaining his vehicles, often working on them alongside his dad. He loved regular family suppers, rarely turning down a home-cooked meal or the chance to beat his mom at cards. Mike worked tirelessly to keep his physical strength up despite his limitations, and he will always be remembered for the quirky, affectionate banter he shared with those he loved most.

Mike was a man of few words, but his steady presence and quiet consistency did all the talking. He kept a small but close circle of family and friends who knew Mike as a loyal caring man. He lived simply, worked honestly, and was deeply loved by the people in his life.

Mike was equally silent about the physical and mental health challenges he faced, and he ultimately died by suicide. Mike will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by his loving parents, Kathy (née Sydor) and Dale Peterson; his sisters, Andrea Peterson and Kristen Peterson (Richard Groulx); and his grandmothers, Rita Peterson and Mary Sydor. He also leaves behind his close friends, valued coworkers, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his grandfathers Carl Peterson and Tony Sydor.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2: 00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, on what would have been Micheal’s 39th birthday weekend. All are welcome, with a reception to follow.
