Merle Faye Larkin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Merle Faye Larkin on June 15, 2024 at the grand age of 84. Merle passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was a devoted mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a great friend to many. Known for her big smile, laugh, love of card games and thrift shopping at second hand stores and garage sales. Her departure has left an immense void in our lives that is indescribable but her memory will forever be cherished and celebrated by everyone that knew her.

Merle Larkin was born July 17, 1939 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents Jessie and Wilfred Mironuck and daughter Dawn (Jones).

Merle is survived by her beloved children Lori (Dennis Kimber), Lawrence (Janice Larkin), son- in-law Wade Jones, treasured grandchildren Clinton (Connie), Kristyn (Ian), Kaley (Moe), Eric (Amy), Courtney, Alicia (Keegan), Brayden (Kate) and great-grandchildren Nathan, Addie and Mia.

Merle loved sports, from being an avid athlete at a very young age to well into her senior years. Merle loved to watch Football, Hockey, Baseball and curling. Merle was always cheering for her favorite teams but found the greatest pleasure in sitting on the sidelines watching her children and grandchildren in whatever sports they were competing in and rarely missed attending a game or practice. Her spunk and zest for life earned her the nickname grandma dynamite.

Merle also loved to spend time at the lake enjoying family campfires and even a competitive game of badminton at the ripe old age of 84. Her age was simply a number.

Besides the immense love Merle had for her family, friends and sports spending time in Hawaii and Arizona were among her favorite locations to chill and perhaps get in a few rounds of bridge throughout the years.

A Private Family Ceremony to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
