Coe, Melvin “Mel” Arthur

June 30, 2024

Melvin “Mel” Arthur Coe

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin “Mel” Arthur Coe. After a tough battle with cancer, Mel left us on June 30, 2024 with his forever loving wife Davina holding his hand.

Mel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was a very strong man with a really big heart, big feelings and a big personality. Mel was so proud of his whole family and loved them more than anything, he was also an animal lover and cherished his dog Luna who was a comfort and constant companion to Mel.

Helping out and doing things for family and friends was something Mel loved to do. He was a great friend to so many and never put himself first. Mel was supportive and encouraging to everyone around him, and he always knew what to say to make someone feel good.

Mel never missed saying "I Love you", he constantly told the people around him "Appreciate ya" and he always referred to his male friends as "Brother".

Mel also had a good sense of humour, he often wore t-shirts that expressed his sarcastic side and he always said whatever was on his mind. He will be forever remembered for the tall tales he liked to tell and his big, bright smile that seemed to be contagious.

Mel was very hard working and he had many different skills but always had a desire to learn more. He found "teachable moments" at every opportunity, encouraging his children to learn new things as well.

Mel had a talent and love for woodworking, often working on projects to give to others. He enjoyed smoking meats, loved to BBQ and cook and to share it with the people around him. Mel was great at fixing all sorts of things and what he didn't know, he would "figure it out" and find a way. He loved to create and build things. He took pride in his truck that he was always maintaining and detailing and he enjoyed time in his garage.

Mel liked to spend time outside and he loved to go camping. Mostly, he loved to spend time with his family. Whether it was a big holiday dinner or a simple Saturday night movie, he cherished all of the memories made. Mel will be missed by all of those who loved him so very much and he will forever be a missing piece of our hearts.

Mel was predeceased by his parents John and Alice Coe; his brother Orville "Chuck"; his sisters Caroline and Laura.

He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Davina; and their two young children Lacie and Ayden; his three grown children Travis (Danielle), Alyshia and Natasha (Mike); as well as seven grandchildren Luca, Liam, Jordyn, Aashton, Grayson, Aiden and Cooper. He also leaves behind a large loving family that includes his brother and sisters; all of his in-laws; many loved nieces and nephews; as well as the many great friends that he has made over the years and of course his devoted dog Luna.

In lieu of any flowers, memorial donations in Mel's memory may be made to Bright Eyes Dog Rescue Inc.

A Celebration of Mel's Life will be organized by his family and held at a later date.

My dad was one of the most straight forward, honest, sarcastic and stubborn men I knew. I miss him more than words can even express. This isn’t goodbye but see ya later. Love you and miss you forever dad.
