April 4, 2025
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Marjorie Jodean Howie on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the age of 65. Jody was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan on February 22, 1960.
Jodean will be so missed by her family: Courtney and Janelle and their sons Carson, Connor and Jayden; Ardean and Tyler and their sons Rheeve, Vann, Dane and Judd; Brittany and Chad and their kids Ireland and Madelyn. As well, her siblings and their spouses Leslie and Debbie, Craig and Teresa, Lance and Manon, and Marla and Bruce will be left with a void in their family and hearts. Jodean was a beloved Aunt of her nieces and nephews, a treasured cousin and niece, and a precious friend to those lucky enough to be in her inner circle.
Jodean was predeceased by her Mom Marjorie Jeannine; her Dad Murton Leslie and her grandson and hero Liam Ryan Barabonoff.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family. Although it wasn’t always easy being a single Mom, she strived to do her best and really came to cherish her role as Grandma. Her favourite family times were simple gatherings with all her kids and grandkids around her.
Jodean had an eclectic, free spirit showing it in the cozy home she created, her personal style, and the way she lived her life. She loved the valley; enjoying hiking in the hills, swimming in the river, and picnicking amongst the beauty it offered. Jody grew up learning many valuable skills from her parents, but some of the best were baking bread and gardening. She luxuriated in the simple pleasures of the scent of fresh baked bread and sitting in her yard, basking in the sun, listening to the birds.
Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and maybe just a little rebelliousness in those whose lives she touched.
Jodean’s Celebration of Life will be held at Tantallon Memorial Rink, Tantallon, Saskatchewan on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Jodean Howie’s memory to Tantallon Memorial Rink.
You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them…In one the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night…You - only you - will have stars that can laugh.” Antoine deSaint-Exupery, The Little Prince

My sincerest sympathy and condolences to all members of Jodean's family and friends. I'm saddened to hear that another leaf has fallen once again from our Howie family tree.
My fondest memory of Jodean is from the early 1970s. It just so happened that both of us attended Camp McKay on Round Lake one summer. We had a great time keeping the camp staff on their toes trying to keep track of Jody Howie and Judy Howie.
Rest in peace Jodean. 😥😥😥

I have such great memories of Jody when we were younger. Especially at the family reunions. Camping, sleeping in a box on top of a car and usually getting ourselves into trouble.
Sending much love and hugs to all her family and friends. Cousin Heather
