It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Marilyn Ann Yourex on August 26, 2026, at the age of 79, with her daughters by her side.

Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved grandson Luke Butz; her husband Jim Yourex; her mother Jean Hay; her father Nelson Hay; her brothers Neil Hay and George Hay; her mother-in-law Colleen Clark; her father-in-law Paul Yourex; her brothers-in-law Gord Reid and Glen Yourex; her sisters-in-law Janice Yourex and Carol Williams; and her niece Carly Williams.

Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her daughters Jennifer (Michael) Schaeffer and Candice (Grant) Butz; her grandsons Andrew and Nicholas Schaeffer; her sister Diane (Rick) Muir; her sisters-in-law Sue Bourassa, Bette (Garry) Roberts, Judy Reid, and Virginia (Len) Jordan; her brother-in-law Michael Stauber; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Marilyn was born in 1947 and began her life in the small community of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan, where she grew up surrounded by family, friends, and memories that stayed with her throughout her life. In her younger years, she moved to Radville, Saskatchewan, where she continued to build lifelong friendships and became the woman so many people would come to know and love.

In 1982, Marilyn married Jim Yourex, beginning a new chapter in her life. Together, they built a loving home and raised their two daughters, Jennifer and Candice. Her family was always the center of her world.

Marilyn spent many years working in Home Care, where her caring and giving nature shone through every day. Looking after others came naturally to her - it was simply who she was. At home, she showed that same love in a different way, usually by making sure there was always a hot meal on the table. You could count on Marilyn to feed you, look after you, and probably send you home with something to eat as well.

The Craven Jamboree was something Marilyn looked forward to every year. She also loved watching curling and enjoyed the excitement of the game. She treasured her friendships and the many moments spent with those she cared about. Whether it was sitting down for coffee, sharing stories, or laughing until her cheeks hurt, those simple moments brought her great joy. Marilyn also enjoyed spending time with family at Katepwa, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Above everything else, Marilyn's greatest joy was her grandchildren. Luke, Andrew, and Nicholas each held a special place in Grandma's heart. She loved talking about her grandsons, watching them grow, hearing about their accomplishments, and being a part of their lives. She treasured the time they spent together and the memories they created.

Mom, you gave us a lifetime of memories and a love that will never leave us. You will be forever missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Westhill Manor Care Home, and Wascana Hospice for the comfort, kindness, and compassion they provided during Marilyn's journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Serbian Club, 2775 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, Saskatchewan. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan.
