Marie Theresa Cecelia Hengen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 8, 1947. Marie passed away on April 6, 2026 suddenly in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Marie was predeceased by her common law husband Maurice Patenaude; parents George and Hilda Hengen; and her brother William (Bill) Hengen. Marie is lovingly remembered, cherished and will be missed. Marie is survived by her 3 sons George Pauls, Christopher (Melanie) Pauls, and Kenneth Pauls. Marie will be missed and cherished by her grandchildren Rowen and Ella; sister-in-law Maryanne Hengen; nephew Jermey Hengen and family; as well as several extend family members, cousins and close friends.

Marie grew up in Windthorst, Saskatchewan after being adopted by George and Hilda Hengen. Marie met Ben Pauls and they created their family together. Later in life Marie moved to Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and moved back to Regina where she continue to work outside the home to provide for her children. Marie was a homemaker for most of her life and was active in her children's lives. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and crafting. Her door was always open to help anyone who needed help and was always offering tea, coffee, buns, cookies or a meal when company stopped in. Marie met the love of her life Maurice in the late 90's and was with Maurice until he passed in 2015. Later in life Marie was involved with some health problems and issues that come with age. Marie enjoyed visiting with family and friends, the outdoors, nature and travelling.

A Graveside Celebration of Marie's Life will be held at a later date at St. Pius Cemetery, Windthorst, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation and/or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
