Lutz Wesseler

Lutz Wesseler, late of Regina, Saskatchewan died of cancer with the help of MAID in the palliative care unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital on May 3, 2024.

Lutz was born in Alt Ruppin, Germany on October 12, 1950 to Ursula (Kraft) Wesseler and Lothar Wesseler. He became a typesetter in Berlin until he met and married Marlis Nordin from Saskatchewan and emmigrated to Canada in 1977. He attended the University of Regina where he earned a degree in psychology, eventually becoming an adult upgrading instructor with Northlands College, where he worked until his retirement. He and Marlis had a son, Evan Wesseler, who now has a little girl, Leah Wesseler. Lutz enjoyed travelling, spending time and visiting with friends in his wife’s garden, shopping for groceries, loved to watch Judge Judy on TV, and read fiction and travel books. He did most of the cooking, following his own recipes that were successful more often than not.

Lutz is survived by his wife, Marlis Wesseler; his son, Evan; his granddaughter, Leah; his mother, Ursula Wesseler who lives in Germany; and his sisters Jutta Jech and Birgitt Mṻeller who also live in Germany.

He was predeceased by his father, Lothar Wesseler.

Two memorials will be held in August of 2024 with close friends and family, one at the house in Regina, and one at the acreage of his dear brother-and sister-in-law, Raymond and Denise Nordin, near Shellbrook, Saskatchewan.
