January 11, 2026

Sonny Lefebvre, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 11, 2026 at the age of 91 years.
Sonny was predeceased by his parents Pierre and Cecile Lefebvre, wife Jean Lefebvre and his brother Denis Lefebvre. He is survived by his sisters Perry Friesen, Terry Lefebvre, Lou Matic and Carmen Lefebvre; his children Darcie (Dave), Pete (Jody) and Dean (Bernie); his grandchildren Tyler (Kelley), Tara (Molly), Josh (Azlynn), Dylan (Lauren), Chloe (Derrick) and Trey (Kate); his great-grandchildren Kit, Tate, Athenea, Crimsyn, Wesleigh, Sutton, Luke and another great-grandchild on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny was born on the family farm in Lajord, SK in the heart of the Dirty 30’s and was raised in a French-speaking household. A fitting beginning for a man who would never shy away from hard work. At the age of 15, he and his brother were sent to Saint Thomas College in North Battleford, SK with hopes that one of them might become a priest. However, Sonny’s calling was never going to be quiet contemplation. He eventually headed west to Alberta, where he worked in the oil patch for Precision Drilling. After three years he returned home and reunited with his high school sweetheart, Jean Wingert. They were married on November 24, 1956. It was around this time that he joined forces with his father-in-law in the excavation business, helping to build what is proudly known today as Wingert Construction. He became the Maestro of the Gradall boom and bucket! Sonny and Jean made their home on 8th Avenue North and welcomed their daughter Darcie in 1957, Pete in 1962 and Dean in 1963.
In later years, Sonny and Jean enjoyed many winters in Arizona. He never quite warmed up to “chasing a white ball around for four hours,” but he did enjoy staying busy with odd jobs alongside his buddies. Together they looked after seniors in the park, fixing anything and everything – often before being asked. An avid walker and accomplished hiker, he tackled many a trail in the Arizona desert. He was a stickler for neat and tidy, enjoyed his daily read of the Leader Post and the Western Producer, was a true Hab’s fan, followed the Regina Pats with a keen interest and enjoyed morning coffees with his crew at the A&W. His personality entered the room before he did. He was a smiley guy, endlessly social and an absolute extrovert. His work ethic was not something he talked about; it was simply how he lived.
His true passion, though, remained the place of his birth: the farm, the land, the endless blue sky and unforgettable sunsets. He loved nature, through and through. We will cherish his memory and miss him forever.
In Sonny’s words……. “FINITO BENITO”!
A Celebration of Sonny’s Life will be held in the Spring of 2026.

My Condolences to the Lefebvre family. I am sorry to hear about the passing of Sonny Lefebvre. I have known Sonny since the early 80's and was fortunate to have had a great business/friendship relationship with Sonny. Sonny was a great businessman and as a friend would give you the shirt of his back if required. Sonny will be missed by all of his family members AND by all of the very many business acquaintances he made through his life; as a very honest, respected and honourable person. "RIP Sonny" you were truly loved and will be missed by all.
