Dorosh, Kyle Richard

May 7, 2024

Kyle Richard Dorosh

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle on May 7, 2024. His departure leaves a large hole in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed.

Kyle was predeceased by his father, Rick Dorosh (who I believe in my heart will extend his hand to pull Kyle back into his arms to join him); grandmothers Bess Grebinsky and Steffa Dorosh; grandfather John Dorosh; uncle Jim Norton; and Aunt Janet Grebinsky.

Kyle leaves to mourn his mother Sharon Dorosh; Grandfather Vern Grebinsky; Aunty Carol Norton (Lyle); Uncle Bob Grebinsky; cousins Nicole, Janelle, Kim, Curtis, Tammy, Adam; Shannon’s children Morgan and Jaxson Barriault whom he cherished and regarded as children of his heart as well as many other loving family members, countless friends and his sweet dog Lucy (Lucious D).

Kyle possessed an extraordinary zest for life that touched everyone who knew him. He took immense pleasure in life’s simple joys, whether it was the scent of fresh flowers, the clean smell of bounce sheets, the peculiar aroma of hot asphalt, or the prank gift exchanges with Nicole. Each of these brought a great big smile to his face.

A hardworking man, Kyle was committed to and took pride in his job at Evraz, just like his grandpa Vern. Despite working hard, he always prioritized a work-life balance. One of his favorite ways to relax was to roll down the windows, turn up the music, and take a leisurely drive through the countryside. He always made time to be fully present with his friends and family. One way he brought people together was in the kitchen. He was a master at creating dishes that drew everyone to the table and even had the ability to convert onion haters into onion lovers, hiding them from Vern and converting Shannon. His passion for cooking was as integral to who he was as his easygoing laugh and the ever-present dishtowel over his shoulder. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing his love of food with his friends and family. Food was his love language.

Kyle had a curious nature and knew something interesting about almost everything. He could keep up a conversation with anyone, and the seemingly useless trivia he kept in his head amazed me. I’ll miss the sound of his voice shouting out the answers to Jeopardy, which were generally always correct. Rick and Kyle shared the same sense of humor, a love for music, the Maple Leafs, and golf. Kyle's love for golf began at Regina Beach, where he initially chased gophers with the golf cart. Luckily for the gophers, his attention soon turned to a love for the game itself. Rick and Kyle spent many sunny afternoons playing together, and we take comfort in knowing they will tee off together again.

Despite the challenges and changes in the last few years of his life, including the loss of his dad, Kyle remained a man with a big heart. When Kyle became a part of Morgan and Jaxson’s lives, he embraced the opportunity with all his heart, naturally stepping into a father-figure role. His tattoo, ‘heart and soul’ was a testament to his approach to life and to parenting; it wasn’t about having all the answers, but about offering genuine love and guidance. Whether he was teaching Morgan to drive or encouraging Jaxson to take the wheel - always with a playful reminder not to drive like their mother – Kyle’s passion for sharing his knowledge and zest for life were undeniable. Morgan and Jaxson were the lights of Kyle’s life, and filled it with joy, meaning and purpose. His absence will forever leave a gap in their hearts and lives.

In lieu of flowers, Kyle would request you do an unsolicited act of kindness in his name and send a prayer that the Leafs make it to the cup next year.

A Come and Go Celebration of Kyle’s Life will be held at the Serbian Club, 2775 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
