Kevin Schmidt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Schmidt, who left us on January 9, 2026. Kevin was 64 Years young, born July 30, 1961.

Kevin was a man who made an impression—always genuine, and never forgettable. He was deeply loved for his sharp wit, stubborn streak, and unforgettable sense of humor. Kevin could make anyone laugh, even on the hardest days, and he held onto that humor right until the very end.

Kevin’s love for dogs was a reflection of his own loyal heart, especially the bond he shared with his bulldog Trooper. Trooper followed Kevin everywhere he went, always by his side - a true best friend. It brings comfort to imagine them reunited.

Kevin was honourable, hardworking, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. Family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in taking care of those around him. He worked tirelessly to build Schmitty’s Drywall, pouring his passion, determination, and strong work ethic into everything he did.

When Kevin wasn’t working, he was living life fully—cheering on the Blue Jays, Sask. Roughriders, golfing, fishing, traveling, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. And of course, many knew him well from the Barley Mill, fondly referred to as “the office.” Whether telling stories, cracking jokes, or standing firm in his opinions, Kevin was unapologetically himself. Stubborn to the core, quick with a joke, and loyal to the end—Kevin will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His laughter, strength, and love live on through his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his devoted wife Anita Schmidt; his children Ryan (Cheri) Schmidt and Sarah (Devon) Hollebeke; his pride and joy his grandchildren Dalton, Mia, Bella, and Beau. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers Doug, Brad, and Trian, and his sisters Wendy and Rhonda; nieces and nephews and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Marlene and Martin.

Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Regina Funeral Home will webcast the Celebration of Kevin’s Life on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 9:55 a.m. CST to 12:00 p.m. CST. You can view the ceremony live or on replay at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/119337. The ceremony will be available to all without a password. The family would be grateful if you shared the link above with your family and friends.

Deepest condolences to Anita and family. We will never forget Kevin. From camping, to Mexico, to playing spoons at new years until a hole was made in the wall (which was OK....cause we knew a great drywaller). Was always a great guy to be around. He will be missed.
