Bird, Kash Ray

May 11, 2025

Kash Ray Bird

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sassy diva Kash. He peacefully passed away with love, memories and his family by his side on May 11, 2025.

He will be greatly missed by his Mom Ashley Denomie; Grandparents Tracy and Doug Hesterman; Great-Grandmas Donna and Gloria; Aunts Amanda (Carmen), Rey (Emily) and Stacie; Uncles Steven (Tara) and Brandon (Kylie); his cousins Kayden, Kage, Kallan, Chase, Jack, Kali, Brody and Tristan; along with lots of great family and friends. Although he will be missed deeply, we take comfort in knowing that he is now with his sister Katana and are back together making jokes, singing and laughing.

Kash fought hard and long against his battle of Friederich’s Ataxia, he was diagnosed at the young age of 6 and fought for 8 long hard years. He never let the disease take away from his bubbly and sassy personality. You could always find Kash watching YouTube, Big Brother or WWE and singing and making everyone around him laugh.

Kash will be known for his strength, courage and spunky personality. Everyone who met him loved his outgoing personality and his love he had for family, the thrill of watching scary movies, going to bingo on Fridays, having karaoke parties and eating poutines.

He was very appreciative of all the staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, including the Peds outpatient staff and the staff on unit 2-5 where he spent the last 2 years living, especially Kyle, Stephanie, Lorraine (or as Kash would say, Lola), Milena, Amanda and many special care aides. A special thank you to Dr. Hodgson-Viden who has been on this journey with us from the beginning.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Silton Hall, Silton, Saskatchewan.
