Mueller, Karl-Heinz Gustav

March 16, 2026

Karl-Heinz Gustav Mueller

It is with profound sadness of his loss tempered by immense happiness for his well lived life that we announce the passing of Karl-Heinz Gustav Mueller, aged 94, born in Bremen, Germany on December 29, 1931, and passed away peacefully with family by his side at Regina, Saskatchewan on March 16, 2026.

Predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, and his wife Ruth of 63 years, Karl is survived by one sister Erika, his loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Ron Mueller (Michelle) Colt, Alice; Heather Mueller (Ed Sewell), Kurtis, Tyler (Trudy), Chelsey; Bill (Linda) Mueller, Shea, Braden (Samantha), Morgan, Erika (Patrice) Remi, Raphael, Louis, Yannick; as well as numerous extended family in Germany, Greece and Canada and his adopted Haider, Soloman and Gyurek families.

Karl immigrated in 1952 to Canada with a degree in animal husbandry and worked on farms and raised cattle, until 1967 when the family moved to Regina. He worked at Silverwood then Co-op Dairies until joining Felix Fischer Construction in the mid 70’s where he stayed until retirement. During this time, Karl, along with Felix and a few others formed the North Side Minor Girls Fastball league, the genesis of organized girls and women’s fastball in Regina. He and Felix coached their daughters’ team to multiple Saskatchewan championships, and 2 consecutive heartbreaking losses in the Western Canadian Finals. Karl contributed to a lot of the rule book and umpired softball, fastball, slo-pitch, Rambler Park men’s and others. When not doing that, he watched and cheered. Retirement turned his 10 hour days to 14 hours, helping kids and grandkids with projects, running dogs around and in his final years, playing with and spoiling his beloved great-grandsons all while driving to bring us parts, lunch or coffee until he was nearly 93 years old. Karl lived his final 18 months at Queen Victoria Estates until his passing.

Special thanks to 5F staff at Regina General Hospital, the nurses in the Regina Pasqua Palliative Care Unit and Dr. Greg Baumann for their compassionate care of our Dad.

Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK. Live streaming of the service will be available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaAXbn0hXns

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in memory of Karl to the Autism Resource Centre.

Heather and family. We are so saddened and sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Karl was a good man and I considered him a longtime friend. I have so many great memories of him from days spent on the ball diamonds, and our inside “not Jan-not Felix” joke was one that lasted many years! I will never forget those fun times. He will missed by the many friends who were lucky to know him. Sending you our heartfelt condolences. Cindy and Al

Karl was a well liked and respected man. I knew him in a number of ways as a friend to his children and worked with him at Silverwoods. Also seeing his coaching fastball and knowing how he enjoyed it. He will be missed by many but mostly by his family.

It hurts to lose a close family member no matter their age. Hopefully you will find some comfort in knowing he lived such a long productive life, leaving you many memories to cherish. I will always remember him on a ball field, as an umpire in many games I pitched and later coached, or as a parent cheering Heather, and her Mistakes teammates on. Thinking of you Heather.
