October 25, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Manz (Lovas) on October 25, 2026. Julie passed away peacefully at the age of 83, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly and a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished.
Julie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest love was her family, and she worked hard throughout her life to provide for her children and give them the best she could. Her life was defined by hard work, determination, and a deep desire to care for others.
Julie is proud of her three children she raised with the help of her husband, Eric Manz: Tracy (Darren), Kelly (Nada), and Rick. She was a proud grandmother to Brooke (Liam), Emily, Sarah, Griffin, Nicholas, Gabbi, and Matthew; and a loving great-grandmother to Roy and Jay. Her family was her greatest pride, and the love she had for her children and grandchildren remained at the heart of who she was.
Julie was the youngest of four sisters, alongside Terrie, who survives her, and her late sisters Agnes, Mary, and Helen. The bonds of family were an important part of her life, and the memories shared with those closest to her will continue to live on. Julie and the family moved from the family farm near Quinton, Saskatchewan, in the mid 1950's when Julie and her sisters were still teenage girls, to the big city of Regina. A big hurdle that they all overcame was going to school and learning to speak English. As the girls got older, they all found their way in the workforce to support her family. This transition into the workforce and the service industry really suited Julie and her personality.
Julie had a special gift for connecting with people, whether at work or among family and friends. She loved to socialize, share a conversation, and spend time with those she cared about. Throughout her life, she formed many lasting friendships that she continued to speak fondly of along her journey.
For us kids, many of our cherished memories of Mom are tied to her career at the Copper Kettle restaurant, a place she was incredibly proud to be a part of. We remember going there for lunch and watching Mom beam with pride as Robert and Ann welcomed us and treated her like royalty. They would often shower us with stories and praise, sharing just how wonderful our mom was and how much they appreciated her. We had the privilege of seeing her in action many times and were always in awe of her incredible work ethic, efficiency, and natural ability to make every customer feel like family. It was clear that her work was about so much more than a job; it was about the relationships she built and the people whose lives she touched along the way.
Mom loved to socialize and regardless of which sister was hosting the dinner mom wouldn't miss the opportunity to get together with family. At any wedding or event there was music and you would surely find Julie as the first one on the dancefloor and the last one to leave at the end of the evening. Holidays, and especially, Christmas, were a special time to our Mom and it brought her so much joy. Mom was proud to make sure we always had gotten everything we ever asked for, regardless of how many hours she worked and how many tips she needed to save. Having the ability to make us happy gave Mom immense pride.
Throughout her life, Julie demonstrated extraordinary strength and perseverance. The latter part of Julie’s life was not easy. She fought and won a courageous battle with cancer over 31 years ago that was only supposed to buy her a couple more years. Julie was always overcoming challenges that would have tested even the strongest of spirits. Although the years took their toll, Julie continued to fight with determination right until the end. Mom lived independently until her 79th year. Her resilience was a testament to her strength and her enduring will to Live left us in awe.
In her last few years Julie resided at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, where she received care and support. Of course, Julie defied the odds an amazed staff with her resilience for 4 years. As was always the case when staff would talk to us about Mom, the same amazement and praise would be bestowed upon her for her independence, her will, and her kindness. Mom never missed the live bands, choirs and her love of being in the bell choir. The family is forever grateful to the staff who looked after her and helped care for her during this chapter of her life.
Julie leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply, along with relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to share in her life. While saying goodbye is never easy, her family can take comfort in the memories they hold, the love they shared, and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life.
Julie’s life was one of hard work, love, friendship, and perseverance. Her journey was not always easy, but she faced it with determination and continued to fight until the very end. She will be remembered always, missed more than words can express, and forever loved by those who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, sister, and friend.
Rest peacefully, Mom. Your long fight is over, and you can finally rest. You will always be in our hearts.
