Park, John Scott

October 21, 2026

John Scott Park

John Scott Park was a wonderful father, beautiful soulmate, cherished best friend, #1 son and had an incredible passion for coaching and football. He passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.

He will be lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts by his wife Melissa; his children Mackenzie (Braden), Harrison and Cassidy; #1 mom, Maxine; his sister Kristie (Chris); stepmother Shelley; in laws, numerous nieces, nephews and great friends that feel like family.

He was predeceased by his father David “Big Ritch” Park

John was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on April 27, 1970 and in that moment became the #1 son to Maxine and Ritch.

As a boy, he loved being outside playing with the other kids until the parents on the crescents would flick the porch lights to come in. He helped his #1 mom and family build a home out on the acreage. He also loved gaming and Super Mario was his favorite. John’s favorite childhood trips were with his mom, sister and Grandpa Gene to Disneyland and Tijuana. With Big Ritch he fondly remembered their trip to an American dude ranch that had picturesque views while horseback riding.

John started high school in Moose Jaw then moved to Vanscoy and then on to Saskatoon where he met some of his best friends at Bishop James Mahoney. Through his high school years, he thrived on playing basketball along with track. It was in high school where he excelled as a track athlete. He was exceptional in high jump, long jump, triple jump and sprints. John stayed in Saskatoon for post secondary. Throughout his university years, over the summer, John was tree planting in Northern Alberta and in British Columbia. He would always come back very tanned and very blonde!! John was part of the U of S track team and also found his lifelong friends who created Lumens basketball and football teams. But after plenty of partying at U of S, Big Ritch encouraged John to enrol at Palliser in Moose Jaw because of newly emerging technology job opportunities.

John was recruited by ISM, even before he passed his final exam. He worked for ISM for 20 years as a business analyst where he was contracted to many projects for various organizations. While working on a project, he met his friends who would eventually lure him over to FCIAS as a configuration analyst. Over the past 10 years, John loved working for FCIAS. John was the first to arrive at work and one of the last to leave. He was infamously known to commute to work on his bike at record speeds and even in -40 degree weather.

He was a loving, active and involved father. John made the most of creating special moments with his children. Slurpee runs, countless pool days, ensuring the kids had the newest video games - being sure to play along with them, attending every school and sport event, prioritizing family vacations, taking pictures and videos that captured all those special moments and giving the best hugs. Through the love of football, John met his wife Melissa and together they travelled the world including numerous trips to Mexico and Las Vegas. Some of the best trips were to see his beloved Rams, and the very best of them all was seeing the Rams win the Super Bowl in LA.

John is described as very caring, thoughtful, supportive and known to make strong personal connections. He started every day with a cup of black coffee, puttering in the yard, taking great pride in his pristinely green lawn, tending to his flowers and ensuring the snow was shoveled for the home and neighbour’s sidewalks before anyone woke up. John would head down the street to walk the path with Mojo or let Reggie and Pacer run through the field.

John developed a love for coaching in 2012 with Regina Youth Flag Football. He impacted so many players over the years and started Scout Flag Football with Melissa to help build skill and provide opportunities for females in flag football.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Pasqua Hospital Oncology team on Unit 5D and Palliative Care Unit 3A, Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, and all the staff who cared for John over the years. Thank you for the compassion, care, and kindness you showed him and our family.

John will always be cherished by the people he loved and everyone who loved him. A life so beautifully loved deserves to be beautifully remembered, please join us for a Celebration of his Life on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in G. Marconi Canadian Italian Club, 2148 Connaught Street, Regina, Saskatchewan.

The game may be over, but your legacy lives on, you are forever in our hearts. Park, John Scott Photo for bottom of obituary.png Park, John Scott Photo for bottom of obituary 1.png
