August 10, 2026

It is with deep sadness that the family of John Zeller announces his passing on August 10, 2026 at the age of 90.
John was born in Quinton, Saskatchewan on February 22, 1936 to Ann and Frank Zeller. He was the second youngest of nine children. John deeply valued family and maintained close relationships with his parents and siblings throughout their lives. He was the type of person who was always ready to lend a hand and was unfailingly there for family and friends in times of need.
John left school after grade eight and did a variety of jobs. He worked on the railroad from 17 to 20 years of age. At 20, he left Quinton to join the Canadian Armed Forces in Edmonton, Alberta. John’s first posting was with the Queen’s Own Rifles in Calgary, Alberta. In Calgary, he met the love of his life, Jo. They were married in 1957 and had two children. John was a devoted husband to his wife for 68 years, until she passed away in 2025.
John had an incredible work ethic and was especially proud to have served in the military. He did two tours of duty with the NATO forces in Europe and one peacekeeping tour in Cyprus. John participated in training in Germany, Norway, Alaska, and Canada. He was awarded the NATO special service medal, the Canadian Peacekeeping medal for Cyprus, the United Nations medal, and the Canadian decoration for 12 years of good service. John left the military in 1972 and moved to Saskatchewan in 1975, where he worked at Regina Memorial Gardens until he retired.
John was an involved and caring father, a proud and supportive grandfather, and a beloved uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. John was a man of strong character who had the courage of his convictions. He was genuine, loyal, generous, and kind-hearted. John was loved and respected by so many and will be profoundly missed.
John is survived by his son Terry Zeller (Kim), daughter Katherine Storey (David), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Elaine Zeller, brother-in-law Dave Risby, and his nieces and nephews.
