June 28, 2025

It is with love and sadness we share that Jacalyn passed away on June 28, 2025.
Jackie is survived by her children Chad (Michelle), Bradley and Erica (Tyler) and grandson Ryker; her sisters Yvonne Gray and Locksie (Bill) McLeod; her father-in-law Kenneth Hopkin; her sisters-in-law Linda Hopkin and Susan Hopkin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Steve; her parents John and Mary (nee Gherasim); her brother and sister-in-law Peter and Margaret Shalovelo; godmother Connee Gherasim; and brother-in-law Stuart Hopkin.
Jackie’s eye for detail, organization and team coordination was her superpower as an Executive Assistant until her retirement in January 2025 - supporting organizations like Credit Union Mastercard, Viterra and SaskTel as well as many others throughout her career.
Jackie was an incredibly talented pianist, dancer, artist, seamstress, baker, gardener and adventure seeker. Her unwavering support for ensuring our community had the best opportunities was a passion of hers for over 30 years and hundreds of hours shared through her children’s schools, Hillsdale Community Association, South Zone Recreation Board and Grow Regina Community Garden, all with the aim of sharing with likeminded people who believe in the culture of community.
The love she had for her family was unmatched. She was a woman of warmth, strength and knew the best ways to protect those who she loved and cared for. Her kindness and love was felt daily by her family and friends and this often extended to those in her circles at work and in her volunteering. If Jackie ever baked for you, it was something special and her way of sharing her talent and love with others. Time with her friends and family was never wasted in her eyes - whether it be Sunday dinners, baking a carrot cake for her coworkers, baking cookies for her children or answering gardening questions for friends, she was always willing to help.
Jackie’s sweet soul is now at rest after a hard fought battle with cancer. Her legacy lives on through the impact that she has left behind with those she was friends with, worked with and volunteered in our community with. She is dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Steve and Jackie on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Conexus Arts Centre (Theatre Lobby), 200 Lakeshore Drive, Regina, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Regina Humane Society, an organization that was near and dear to Jackie.

To the Shalovelo & Hopkin families, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Mom & Dad. Jackie & I grew up together in Dysart. I feel that the obituary shared the essence of her. She was very talented & I am sure you miss her. I came to a downtown hotel to meet her many years ago as she was watching one of her boys play basketball? Chad. May memories comfort you & the support of family & friends sustain you through this difficult time. Take good care of each other.
