Fergusson, Ian Douglas

February 26, 2024

Ian Douglas Fergusson

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Ian Douglas Fergusson, who passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2024.

Ian leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 28 years, Laura; children Jennifer, Stephanie, and Taylor; grandson Jadyn; siblings Jim (Cheryle), Brian (Donna), Sheila (Craig), Rob, and Carol; as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James Roy and Evelyn Margaret Fergusson.

Ian was a truly kind and selfless soul who left a permanent mark on the hearts of those who knew him. Ian's legacy as a devoted father and husband will forever resonate. His passion for gardening, the thrill of mountain biking, the tranquility of fishing, and the art of fixing cars defined the joyful moments of his life. He acquired a new found love of Elvis Presley after they visited Graceland last year. Ian's retirement dreams centered around the restoration of his beloved 1973 Mustang Mach 1, a testament to his unwavering determination and love for craftsmanship.

In the garden of memories, Ian's laughter will bloom, and the echoes of his kindness will forever linger. May his spirit ride on in the wind, fish in the calm waters, and find solace in the eternal repair shop of cherished memories. Ian's life was a symphony of love, and his memory will continue to play in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in the melody.

Ian's Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Parish Hall, 2020 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK.

To say I am sorry for your loss does not truly convey how saddened we are at Ian’s passing. I will miss our conversations when Ian alway had a story about the latest fixing project or the killer deal he got shopping. I always admired Ian’s adventures with the kids from Sherwood Forest to fishing off the bridges. Find strength knowing that Ian is off to the next great adventure and I know how proud he was of all of you.

Ian was a hard worker, a smart worker. He has left a big gap in our hearts. He was a great coworker but more than that a great friend. Always in our hearts. To his family our hearts go out to you all. Our deepest condolences.

My deepest sympathies to Laura, Stephanie, Jennifer and Taylor. Ian (Ferg) was my close friend for about 50 years, spoke with him almost weekly on the telephone. He always had a story to tell me, ("you should see...."). Ferg was always there for me when I need to talk, he was a valued friend to many of us over the years, and I miss him dearly. I was glad I was there in Regina to see him and say my good-byes. He left a permanent legacy in my heart! RIP Ferg, we love you!

Growing up in Regina the Ferguson household on McAra Street was the hub of all activity. Ian was my best friend then and the memories live on. Ian seemed to have all the newest and best toys and was always willing to share with the rest of us kids. Ever patient kind and caring he was to all. We missed you when the family moved away and will miss you now again old friend. My sincerest of condolences to the Ferguson family from all of the Niemczyk family from McAra Street. May you all find comfort in the memories of Ian.
