Sartison, Harold Fredrick George

Harold Fredrick George Sartison

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Heaven gained a handyman. Harold Fredrick George Sartison passed away peacefully and surrounded by love, with family by his side. Harold was born on August 17, 1944, in Herbert, Saskatchewan to George and Leontina Sartison. To Harold, his family was everything. He was an amazing brother to older siblings Vonnie and Ken. Harold grew up in Neidpath, Saskatchewan where he spent his childhood years, and had many of his fondest memories.

Harold began his working years with Sasktel, where he put up phone lines across the province. In 1966 Harold began his fulfilling career with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and remained there until his retirement in 2000. During his many years with the Wheat Pool, he moved to different communities in Saskatchewan including: Oxbow, Saskatoon, Melville, Swift Current and eventually settled in Regina. Upon his retirement, Harold worked at Midtown Auto Sales as well as constantly doing projects and renovations for friends and family.

Harold and Irene raised their 4 girls and he was the most patient, loving, calm, giving, genuine and compassionate Dad. He truly was one-in-a-million! These characteristics translated into his role of Grandpa. Harold loved cheering on his Grandchildren and supporting their many activities. He was always willing to make a fire for s’mores or take the kids for a ride on the golf cart. And there was always room for ice cream!

In 2009, he met his partner Vi Janz. They spent the last 15 years together traveling to Yuma, going on cruises, spending summers at Regina Beach, planting flowers, playing games and spending time with their friends.

Harold was a dedicated Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and spent many hours in his “fan cave” at the beach. He loved his summers at the trailer! Harold was proudly the recreation director at Lakewood Manor where he planned events and social activities. He loved fishing trips in Northern Saskatchewan, attending Sartison reunions, watching Rider games, golfing, playing shuffleboard, playing cards and he loved his desserts! Although his favorite activity of all was spending time with family.

Harold fought a short but courageous battle with Glioblastoma. He was ready to go home to the arms of Jesus and be free of suffering. A heartfelt thank you goes to his care team at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, as well as to all the staff at William Albert House who welcomed and cared for him with kindness and compassion.

Harold is survived by his four daughters Lana, Tina, Jodi and Tasha; partner Vi; his grandchildren Brody, Whitney, Taylor, Will, Jackson and Avery; sons-in-law Wendell, Billy and Cliff; Vi’s children Lenny and Leah and their families; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many close friends. Harold was predeceased by his mother Leontina; father George; his sister Vonnie; his brother Ken; brother-in-law Melvin and many other close family members.

A Memorial for Harold will be held in Swift Current, Saskatchewan at a later date for immediate family and friends. In lieu of flowers, take your family for ice cream and create wonderful memories together.
