May 25, 2025
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Schweitzer, who left us peacefully on May 25, 2025 at the age of 97.
Born on April 16, 1928, Elsie lived a life rich in music, laughter, and unwavering love for her family. She brought joy and energy to those lucky enough to know her.
Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Ludwig Schweitzer; parents Johann and Margarethe Unterschutz; her sister Winnie Hunter and her brother Jake (Irene) Unterschutz.
She is survived by her children Eileen (Dale) Anderson, Diane Schweitzer, Jim (Crystal) Schweitzer, Jerry Schweitzer, Bonnie (Daryl) Holzapfel, Terry Schweitzer, and Leanne (Darren) Kettle. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren Tammy Anderson (Brandon), Tara (Kevin) Bodnar, Jason Schweitzer, Johnathon Schweitzer, Jamie Schweitzer, Cody (Robyn) Holzapfel, Amy (Jeff) Boucher, Riley (Jenna) Holzapfel, Robbie (Becky) Bodnar, Brandon Bodnar and James Parisian. Elsie was also blessed with a number of great-grandchildren Jordan, Jade, Taylor, Noah, Larissa, Lukas, Kate, Paislee, Jaxon, Emersyn, Weston, Livia, Lincoln and Lennon. Mom loved kids, especially all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed spending time with them as they did with her and being a part of their lives as they grew. Elsie will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Playing music was Elsie's passion. She never needed a piece of sheet music but rather played by ear. She could play her accordion or piano to any song at any given time; from playing in other senior homes to residents at her care home and of course for her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 – 4th Avenue North, Regina, SK. Lunch will be served after the service with the interment to follow in Regina Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for making her last day comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
