Wagman, Elaine Joyce

June 14, 2026

Elaine Joyce Wagman

It is with heavy hearts—but a bounty of beautiful memories—that we announce the passing of Elaine Joyce Wagman on June 14, 2026, at the ripe young age of 77. She was a deeply loved Mom, Gramma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed every single day.

Elaine’s story began on July 5, 1948, in Willowbunch, Saskatchewan. As a young woman, she moved to Regina to work at Municipal Hail Insurance. It was there that she met Reg Wagman and promptly broke her own golden rule: never marry a farmer. Reg successfully charmed his way past her defenses, and on May 9, 1970, they wed and moved to St. Joseph’s Colony to join the family dairy farm. As it turned out, Elaine much preferred the fresh air of the barn, garden, and yard to the drudgery of cooking and cleaning. Or so she claimed—because truth be told, she was a fantastic cook, and her legendary “Annie Cookies” will remain a family favorite for generations.

After the dairy chapter closed, Elaine found her true professional happy place at McLean Insurance and Balgonie Agencies. For nearly 40 years, it wasn’t just a job; it was a daily joy to hang out with her beloved work crew until her retirement in October 2025.

Many people have nieces and nephews, but Elaine—known affectionately as Annie, Ann, or Ann-Caban—had "Extra Kids." If you were lucky enough to be one of them, you knew you weren't just extended family; you were hers, plain and simple.

As Elaine's only child, Tracey enjoyed her mom’s undivided attention... right up until the grandchildren arrived, at which point Tracey was politely demoted. Distance couldn’t stop "Gramma Gramma" from being a massive part of their lives. Ainsley had Gramma Gramma wrapped around her little finger and at her beck and call. Just recently, on June 4th, Elaine was bursting with pride to attend Ainsley’s USask Convocation, happily bragging to every hospital staff member within earshot that her granddaughter was now an RN. She was equally proud of Cohen, telling everyone about the incredibly caring young man he is (and that he gives the absolute best hugs). She loved streaming his hockey games on her iPad, often noting how glad she was that he chose to be a goalie—mostly because she always knew exactly where to find him on the ice.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband Reg in 2022, her parents Tom and Johanna Dongworth, her brother Dale, and her sister Janice.

Carrying on her legacy of love, laughter, and cookie-baking are her daughter Tracey and son-in-law Troy Burnett of Camrose, AB; her cherished grandchildren, Ainsley (Saskatoon) and Cohen (Camrose); and her sisters, Doreen Wagman (Qu’Appelle) and Doris Amrud (Regina), along with a wonderful village of extended family and friends.

Mom loved her family fiercely and will be missed more than words can say. Breathe easy, Momma.

Almassy Metz Funeral and Cremation Services have been entrusted with arrangements. A community gathering for family and friends to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to Lung Saskatchewan.
