Johnson, Edwin David (Dave)

Edwin David (Dave) Johnson

Edwin David Johnson (Dave) passed peacefully on November 4, 2024, in the presence of family, at the age of 80 while residing in Brightwater Senior Living, located in Regina Saskatchewan.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Loye, and his grandson Cole. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Michelle (granddaughter Chelsey (partner Curtis)), son Darin (daughter-in-law Carolyn, grandson Boston and granddaughter Summer), daughter Corinne (grand-puppy Soda), and sister Sharon.

As a devoted husband and father, Dave was also a kind friend to his neighbours and community. Throughout his life he was a hard working man with a dedication for farming, raising cattle, operating equipment and driving truck. He had a love for flying and whenever he had the opportunity to do so, he’d accompany his pilot brother-in-law Frank or neighbour Eddie for a ride in the sky. While Dave flew several times with Frank, his most memorable was when Betty and Matilda joined them on a flight to Regina in Frank’s four-seater plane. Dave would have obtained his own license had he been able, but at the time being a diabetic prevented him from doing so.

Dave enjoyed a good game of 3-spot and never missed a Boxing Day tournament. He loved to dance and along with Betty, would always be found on the dance floor of family weddings and anniversaries. Dave came from a musical family, as did Betty, so it was a perfect match when he could play piano when family would come together to jam in the basement.

Once retired, Dave took to baking and cooking, he enjoyed making cookies, sourdough bread, smoothies, and salads. He took pride in his rhubarb from the garden, sharing with anyone who wanted and using it in his recipes.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and deeply by his wife and family. His passing leaves a space in their hearts.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 425 Broad Street North, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.

Sending my deepest sympathy to you as you mourn the loss of your husband and father. I have many memories of spending time across the road, at the Johnson farm. But the memory of David that sticks out the most is when I was a teenager visiting Corinne , it was -40 out and I couldn’t get the car to start at 3 o’clock in the morning. David got out of bed to help me. He was quiet with a smile on his face.

Sending love to you all as you remember him as a kind, hard-working, and dedicated man.
