Lang, Edmund "Ed"

May 8, 2025

Edmund "Ed" Lang

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ed Lang. He died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a dignified and courageous journey with Lewy Body dementia at the age of 81. A peaceful end to a life lived fully, thoughtfully, and generously.

Ed was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan, and was raised on the family farm near Raymore. He carried a lifelong devotion to his province and its people. Known fondly for his remarkable memory, endless curiosity, and his encyclopedic knowledge of everything Saskatchewan, from highways and hidden lakes to its pipelines and communities.

After attending Campion College for high school, Ed began his lifelong career with SaskPower and SaskEnergy. Ed was a man of many talents. He loved racing snowmobiles and was an inspirational slalom water skier and trick skier. A skilled welder, he brought natural gas pipelines to many communities in Saskatchewan and built snowmobile trailers for family and friends. Ed was a long-standing teammate on the Regina Flyers hockey team and some of his happiest days were spent camping, fishing and golfing with family and friends.

Throughout every chapter of his life, he remained the same pleasant, civil, thoughtful and witty man so many admired. Even in the face of illness, his warmth, humour and grace never wavered. Ed was a man whose presence enriched every life he touched.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years Linda (nee Kambeitz) Lang, whose love and support were unwavering. He will be deeply missed by his children Mona (Duane Beery) Lang, Andrea (Matt) Stineff, and Jeremy (Jerilyn) Lang. Ed was a proud and cherished grandfather to Kazden, Izaac, Finn, Amakah, Cole, and Lainey. Ed’s passing leaves a tender space in the hearts of his siblings Lorraine, Jim (Mary), and Carol (Barry); sister-in-law Lucille. Ed is also lovingly remembered by a huge circle of extended Lang and Kambeitz family members. Ed was predeceased by his brother Lin; brother-in-law Tony; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dear friends, extended family members, caregivers, and the palliative care team whose compassion carried Ed and his loved ones through his final chapter.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 1021 McCarthy Boulevard North, Regina, SK. I had the good fortune to meet Ed later in both our lives. He was always up for a good and interesting conversation. I wish our paths had crossed earlier in life. My most sincere condolences to the Lang and Kambeitz families. Ed will be missed by all those who knew him.

I offer my sincere condolences to you, Linda, on the loss of your dear Ed. We met as neighbours on McDonald Street in the 1980’s and kept in touch over the years through Christmas letters which spoke of the pride and joy Mona, Andrea and Jeremy and their families brought you both. As you navigate through this difficult journey, lean on the love and support of your family and friends and remember the good times shared with Ed… he truly was one of a kind!

I knew Ed and family for only a short time , it was a pleasure getting to know Ed and his family. Ed was a funny, smart man, he taught me a lot when we would go out for drives or tell stories of his past, when I bought a new car, Ed came along and checked everything out and he let me know his thoughts that it was a good car we would watch his family history on youtube and he would point out family members, we also watched ghost towns on youtube and Ed would know exactly where the town was and would tell me if he had been there within his career. I will miss seeing Ed and hearing from his family. My famiy sends our deepest condolences to Linda and all family, thank you for letting me care for Ed. I will miss you all.❤️
