June 25, 2026

With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of Doris Carrie Amrud on June 25, 2026, at the age of 74. While our hearts ache with her loss, we find comfort in the many joyful memories she leaves behind. Doris was a cherished Mom, Gramma, sister, aunt, and friend whose love and laughter will remain with us always.
Doris's story began on August 9, 1951, in Willowbunch, Saskatchewan, the 4th of 5 children born to Johanna and Tom Dongworth. Doris married Keith Johnson in 1971, and together they welcomed three children: Warren, Wade, and Heather.
Doris was predeceased by her parents Tom and Johanna Dongworth; her brother Dale; her sisters Janice and Elaine; and her beloved son Wade.
Family was Doris's greatest blessing, and her grandchildren were truly the stars in her sky. She adored every moment spent with them and she always made them feel special. Whether she was baking cookies, working on crafts, playing games, or simply gathering around the table, she had a way of making them feel loved, cherished, and important. She gave the best hugs, shared the biggest laughs, and created memories and traditions that her grandchildren will carry with them forever. Doris shared her love of cooking, crafting, and gardening with her children and grandchildren. She loved crafting, whether it was knitting cozy blankets, crocheting treasured keepsakes, working on intricate needlepoint projects, stringing beads, or learning a brand-new craft simply because one of her grandchildren wanted to try it. If there was a craft project to tackle, Gramma was ready with supplies, enthusiasm, and plenty of patience.
Anyone fortunate enough to gather around the table and enjoy a meal made by Doris knew there was something magical in the meals she prepared. She could make any meal taste a little more special. Her legendary homemade buns were often the centerpiece of family gatherings, and her baking was simply out of this world. Whether it was a holiday feast, a weeknight supper, or a plate of fresh baking just because, Doris showed her love through every dish she created.
Carrying on her legacy of love, laughter, baking, gardening, and crafting are her son Warren Johnson and daughter-in-law Adrienne Parker; her daughter Heather and son-in-law Chris Phillips of Outlook, SK; her daughter-in-law Laurel Johnson of Mortlach, SK; her cherished grandchildren Lilly Johnson (Mortlach, SK), Gilbert Johnson (Mortlach, SK), Kailyn Phillips (Saskatoon), Elle Phillips (Outlook), and Nash Phillips (Outlook, SK); and her sister Doreen Wagman (Qu’Appelle, SK);, along with many extended family and friends.
Mom will be missed more than words can say. Though her chair at the table may now sit empty, her love remains woven into every family gathering, every garden planted, every batch of buns baked, and every memory shared. Rest easy and pain free, Mom.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers our family would suggest a donation to the Sask Cancer Agency or the Canadian Cancer Society.
