Doreen Esther Shmyr

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Esther Shmyr, late of Regina and formerly of Melfort, Saskatchewan, who left this world peacefully with her family by her side on December 8, 2025.

Born on March 22, 1945, Doreen lived a life full of joy, laughter, and love. She was a devoted mother to Barb (Ross) Wesnoski, Lisa (Mark) Flodell and Rob (Carla) Shmyr; a cherished grandmother to Ryan (Larissa), Devin (Camilo), Kaitlin (Len) Wesnoski, Sarah (Jamie), Logan Flodell, Hunter and Brady Shmyr. She was also a wonderful great-grandmother to Jack and Sam Wesnoski and Charlotte Noble. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She embraced every moment with them wholeheartedly.

Doreen will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her passion for life and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. She truly lived life to the fullest, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.

As per her wishes, there will be no formal service. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and will carry her spirit with them always.

Left to treasure her memory are her family, her sister Shirley Gehman and nieces Sherri Norris, Tricia Braithwaite, Bev Philips, their families and numerous friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for their care and support.

My condolences to you, Doreen's family. As a child she & Joe would come to visit our farm (& see my older brothers). I recall her laugh & sparkling eyes. She was a great help to our Mom, Margaret & I am so thankful for how much she did for Mom in her older years. Although she is no longer with you, her memory will always be alive in your hearts.
