February 12, 2026

Debbie passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 with her family by her side at the age of 68.
She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Joan Vandergrift; and in-laws Norm and Betty Matties. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Dale and their son Devin (Sonia); siblings Grant (Sue), Bud (Karen), Dawn (Emil), Dale (Charlene); brother-in-law Dwight (Pam); sister-in-law Angie (Alan); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Debbie pursued a career in nursing and later as an intake worker with Saskatchewan Health Authority. She retired in 2023.
Debbie and Dale enjoyed many years at their cabin at Uhl’s Bay, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed lounging and visiting with their many friends. Debbie always had treats for the furry friends that would visit her at the lake.
She always enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She loved each one of them and would spoil them as much as she could.
Debbie would help anyone out when asked and provided great advice.
A special thank you to all the staff at the Regina General Hospital.

I used to work with Debbie at the Regina Mental Health Clinic. I often would stop by and chat with her in Intake. She was thorough in her work, she knew tons of resources, and she cared about doing a good job in intake. Sending condolences to Debbie’s family. Rest in peace Debbie.

Deepest condolences to all of Debbie 's family. My first contact with Deb was when she worked at Mobile Crisis, always so helpful. Then when she was at CRT and intake at RMHC. Always willing to help out. We'd put our heads together and make a plan for a client. Fun and professional in one great package.

I first met Debbie at Crisis Management when I had two practicums as a nursing student. Once I graduated I then was so fortunate to become one of Debbie's co-workers for more than 15 years with the Crisis Response Team. Debbie taught me so much and was always so gentle and kind to me. I never seen her upset and she always had a calm presence. We would attended difficult calls and I was never nervous attending with Debbie. She always knew what needed to be done and how to support our clients. No one knew Regina resources and had more connections than Debbie. She helped so many people without praise or recognition. Debbie will be missed. My condolences to Dale, Devin and family

I will forever miss Deb. We worked together at Mobile Crisis for 20 yrs and she was my sidekick and vice versa. She was so experienced, and calls ran smoothly when we were together. We also had a lot fun. She loved difficult cases to solve and had a natural curiosity. I called her Nancy Drew. She helped me tremendously when my children were young and at times I didn’t have enough hands to manage. She was a great friend to me and my children. I extend my deepest condolences to Dale, Devin, her siblings and family. She was one of the greats!!!

Sending my dearest condolences to Dale, Devin, Dawn and all her family. Was saddened and shocked to hear the news of Deb’s passing. Sadly haven’t seen her or her family in years but was once “adopted” by her family when I was in nursing school with Deb. Sending love and prayers to all.
We are always available and on call 24/7.
