June 24, 2026

Dave passed on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He is missed by friends and family, including: Gena, his wife of 58 years; his daughter Denise (Bill); his grandsons to whom he lovingly referred as ‘his guys’ Jack (Abby) and Charlie; and his lifelong friends Allen and Patty.
Dave liked assisting Gena as her sous-chef, preparing meals for each other or for company. Dave and Gena enjoyed hosting small gatherings for supper, cards, or an evening of visiting (always with snacks and dessert!). Dave also loved adventures with Gena, including train trips and road trips to visit family, dancing to Neil Diamond, relocating to Florida, or mini-golfing at the local putt-putt. It really didn't matter what they did; Dave’s favourite place was by Gena’s side.
Dave was quiet, humble, and honest. In his career as an accountant, he earned a reputation of being kind and trustworthy. He was fiercely loyal, and had a dry sense of humour and a quick wit.
Dave experienced a series of health issues which caused him a great deal of pain, but he rarely complained. He bravely fought through chemo, but soon after treatment, was diagnosed with a new, more aggressive cancer which ultimately overcame him. His wish was to help others; as such, he donated his remains to the Body Bequeathal Program in the Department of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. A lovely way to honour his memory would be to donate blood, become an organ donor, and donate to the Canadian Cancer Society as you are able.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff on both the Oncology Ward and Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital who truly cared for Dave and his family during a very difficult time.
During his hospital stay, Dave repeatedly asked when he could go home. While the homecoming he and his family hoped for did not happen, they take solace in God’s promise of peace.
