Winsor (Cooper), Carol Marie

June 22, 2025

Carol Marie Winsor (Cooper)

Carol Marie (Cooper) Winsor, born on December 2, 1943, passed away on June 22, 2025 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her son Ken (Sheri), grandson James (Hailee) and family, and her brother Jim, nephews Trent and Jason, her kitties, Archie and Flint and hundreds of dear, dear friends.

Fiercely independent, Carol lived life to the fullest and always on her terms. From her first job pumping gas, she developed a strong work ethic. Work and education was very important to her. She spent years working for the Saskatoon stockyards and then moved on to the Beef Stabilization Board, in Regina, then for the Saskatchewan Department of Education. She also worked as a 911 operator for a while.

In 1986, she married the love of her life, Doug Winsor and that was the start of 33 years of adventures together that included living in Jordan for a year, buying and renovating a cabin at Missinipe, where for many years, they enjoyed fishing, nature and made more life long friends. They were also faithful members of the Regina Press Club until its closure. They enjoyed hosting dinner parties and always put on a great New Years bash at their home, as well as regular morning coffee visits with friends.

Carol loved her home and especially her yard in the Lakeview area. She enjoyed walks in the park and spent lots of time planning and putting together her garden every summer. She was surrounded by wonderful, caring neighbours on all sides that helped her navigate the challenges she faced after Doug passed away in 2019. After Doug passed away, Mom got involved with the Regina Seniors Centre and enjoyed playing crib and singing in the senior's choir. She made friends every where she went over the course of her life.

Her family wishes to thank her many friends for their care and love of Mom, especially over the past few years while she battled cancer. Naming you all would take too long. We also would like to express our gratitude for the excellent care she received from Palliative Home Care Services, and the wonderful nurses in the palliative ward at the Pasqua. Those wishing to make donations in Carol's memory may do so by donating to the Regina's Senior's Centre (306) 525-2154. As per her wishes, there will be no service.

"Go placidly, amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy." by Max Ehrmann ©1927

Sorry for your loss. I fondly remember our lunch "meetings" at China Doll, always ordering "B", so we could get to what was happening at in our lives and work, especially after Carol retired and I was still working. I will miss our lunches together.
