July 22, 2024
Andrew passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 22, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born in Dilke, Saskatchewan and raised on the farm near there. He attended school at Kenockee. He moved to Regina, SK in 1954 and married Christina Bast in 1956. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Christian Ziegler and granddaughter Chelsey Gusway. He is survived by his sister Monica Gelinas and his brother Richard Ziegler (Esther); his loving wife Christina (Bast) married for 67 years and their five children and spouses Ken (Gwen), Rod (Florence), Barry (Verna), Cheryl Gusway (Quinn), Kelly (Lisa); grandchildren Christopher Ziegler (Allison), Kimberly Basey (Nathan), Maranda Ziegler (Shane Topham), Jace Gusway (Keanna),Christina Ziegler, Kendall Ziegler (Shayne Gwinner); great-grandchildren Aleena, Layla, Cameron, Brody and Lillian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Andy started his working career at Gestetner Office Products and later became an entrepreneur owning and operating Deluxe Delivery, Prairie Leisure Centre, ZieVac Industries and Ziegler Enterprises. In his later years he entered into cars sales and made many new friends in the car sales industry working at Capital Pontiac GMC and Regina Motor Products. Andy spent many years enjoying family time out at the cabin at Alice Beach. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and was very proud to be a Knight and of the role they played in the Regina community. Entering into retirement Andy devoted many years of hard work into the restoration and preservation of the heritage property John Deere Plow Company Bldg. in Regina (Brownstone Plaza). He also spent countless hours researching and documenting the Ziegler family history. Andy enjoyed golfing with family right up until last year. He was never one to sit still and during Covid he made over 60 birdhouses. He absolutely loved watching the birds in the yard. He would light up each time he saw videos or pictures of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on family playing hockey, baseball and equestrian competitions. He was a very generous soul always offering to help his family with projects or yard work. Andy was a strong, honest, proud and hard-working man. Polka music was by far his favourite and he never missed an opportunity to kick up his heels to a good polka song. A special mention to his furry companions Zoe, Thor and Rosco.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Wascana Day program staff, Pasqua Hospital staff on 3D and the Wascana Grace Hospice doctors and nursing staff.

Dear Christina and family I am sad for your family as you grieve the loss of a wonderful human being. I remember as good neighbours and babysitting the boys and Cheryl. Barry and my little brother Roger were good friends. McCannel Street was full of children and a great place to live. I often ride my bike around there recalling all the neighbours, the memories and wondering how everyone is doing. I pray for the soul of Andy and all of you as you grieve his loss. He will be missed. Take care of yourselves as you grieve.. Healing has no timeline.
