With a mixture of sadness and relief her family announces her peaceful passing in her 97th year after a few weeks of rapid decline. We take solace in the promise of her heavenly life.
Agnes was born in the small hospital in Bracken in southwestern Saskatchewan near Masefield where her parents John D. and Lena (nee Reslein) Deis were homesteading. The family also lived in Vibank District and Regina. She later lived in Vancouver, B.C. for 44 years. Agnes returned to Regina in 2001 to enjoy her retirement years amongst her extended family. She died at Regina’s Salvation Army Grace Hospice.
She was predeceased by her aforementioned parents, John and Lena; her brother Wilfred (1952), her husband Roy (1971), her son Gordon (1996), her second husband Bill Whitelaw (1998) and more recently her sister Marian, her brothers Leo and Richard and her dear friend Marlene Mingram. She was also predeceased by Roy Miller’s four siblings and their spouses.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Gary (Jeannette) and Glen, her sister Freda (Lawrence Erhardt), sisters-in-law Dolores Deis and Dianne Desjarlais. Agnes had a special relationship with her grandson Grant (Kandis) and their three children. She is further survived by honorary daughters-in-law Beth and Cindy and by three grandsons, a granddaughter, cousins, nephews and nieces on both the Deis and Miller sides.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 - 4th Ave. N., Regina, SK on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment of ashes will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
NOTE: due to construction on three sides please approach the church parking lot from 3rd Ave. North and Scarth St. and continue past the closed road sign.
No Flowers Please.
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

I remember Agnes and her family coming to visit Aunt Rose and Uncle Benny on the farm when I was a child. Lucia and I recently sorted some old photos that we gave Agnes and shared a wonderful couple of hours listening to her stories and reminiscing. Sincere condolences to family and friends for their loss.

We mourn the loss of Auntie Agnes yet are forever thankful for the slippers and of course the privilege of opportunity that came with the many visits and precious time spent with her over the last few years. She was a dear soul who we will miss. I know she is up in Heaven with our beloved family members giving them all great big hugs from us!!
