February 1, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ron Rider announce his peaceful passing on February 1, 2023 at the age of 72 years with Darlene and their three sons at his side.
Ron was born to Frederick and Phyllis Rider on October 2, 1950 and was the middle child between his two sisters. He married Darlene, the woman of his dreams, on September 29, 1972 and they went on to raise a strong and loving family. He absolutely adored all of his grandchildren and loved to make them laugh.
Ron will forever be remembered for his love of life, his ability to fix anything, his willingness to help anyone, his amazing sense of humor, everyone’s favorite appliance repairman and for being the life of every party he attended.
He especially treasured the time he spent with loved ones and friends at the family cottage at Lumsden Beach which he and Darlene purchased in 1983. Ron often said, “The best thing we ever did was buy the cottage.” Many precious memories were made on the beach, the lake, the golf course, around the fire and working in the yard.
Ron will be deeply missed but always remembered by everyone that had the pleasure to know him.
The Rider family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lotz, Dr. Korkola, Dr. Tallon and the dedicated staff at the Regina General Hospital for the exceptional care they have provided over the years.
As per Ron’s wishes there will not be a funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca) or the Canadian Lung Association (www.lung.ca).

Steve and family. So sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. He was a true gentleman; a fixer of any appliance and always had time to chat when you saw him. May memories comfort you and yours at this time.
