November 16, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Braconnier announces his passing on November 16, 2023 in Regina, Saskatchewan following a brief battle with cancer.
Michael was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on October 14, 1963, to Noel and Therese (nee Boucher) Braconnier and was the youngest of five siblings (but grew to be the tallest!). Michael attended school in Assiniboia, graduating from the Assiniboia Composite High School in 1981. Michael attended welding classes in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan shortly after realizing this was not the path for him. He then obtained his Class 1A licence and began his lifelong career as a truck driver hauling freight, gasoline, beef, gravel, and mail to name just a few. He made many miles across both Canada and the United States during his time on the road.
Michael was an avid sports fan, especially football. He was always watching NFL or CFL games or checking the latest sport scores. His favorite teams were the Seattle Seahawks and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Micheal also enjoyed watching hockey and played in his youth. He never missed an opportunity to get in on a good game of crib with either family or friends and those who were fortunate to have played a game or two with him over the years will cherish their memories.
Michael was a quiet person with a gentle soul and a huge heart. He was known to many people and had his routine social connections to meet up with friends and family.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Noel and Therese Braconnier and a sister-in-law Laurette Braconnier.
He is survived by his brothers Ronald Braconnier of Edmonton, Alberta and Rene Braconnier of Calgary, Alberta; his sisters Denise (David) Comeau of Calgary, Alberta and Giselle Silzer of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; nieces Tanya Silzer of Whitecourt, Alberta, Carla (Dustin) Post of Cranbrook, British Columbia and Janna (Aaron) White of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; great-niece Hailey and great-nephews Nolan, Cole and Dylan.
A Private Family Celebration of Life and Interment will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
