June 19, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leon Roy Ashton on June 19, 2023 at the age of 63. He was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, wonderful brother, and a great friend to many. His empathy and loving spirit was truly one of a kind.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 39 years, Diane Ashton; sons Kyle and Scott (Courtney); granddaughter Addison and granddog Luna (born 2 weeks apart); his sister Kathy Fele; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Leon was predeceased by his mother and father Phyllis and Edgar Ashton; his brother William (Bill) Ashton; his sister Marion Pretty; mother-in-law and father-in-law Doreen and Leonard Jennings; brother-in-law Douglas Jennings.
Leon was born on February 2, 1960 to Phyllis and Edgar Ashton in Regina, Saskatchewan. He met the love of his life, Diane, in 1979 and they were married in 1983. They would have celebrated 40 years this July. His son, Kyle, was born in 1985 and Scott was born in 1987. Leon recently celebrated 30 years of employment and finished his career with Harvard Developments. He loved the outdoors, spending evenings in the back yard, camping, golfing, fishing, and bonfires with family and friends taking in the world around him. Working on crafts in the garage brought him peace and joy in his most recent years. Spending time playing card games with family, teasing the family dog (Luna), or goofing around with his granddaughter (Addison) always produced a smile from him and all company in his presence.
We will miss him immensely and cherish his memory! The family wishes to thank everyone who has reached out with all their love and condolences. They would also like to thank Dr. Baumann and the staff at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, as well as the ICU and Unit 4B of Regina Pasqua Hospital for the attentive care they gave Leon in his final few weeks with us. As well, the family extends a special thanks to Almassy Metz Funeral & Cremation Services for their attention and care provided.
Celebration of Leon’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina, Saskatchewan. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Regina, Saskatchewan. To ensure we have adequate space, food and refreshments for those who wish to join us please RSVP by July 1, 2023 to kashton248@gmail.com
In lieu of flowers, Leon’s family kindly requests that donations be made to Regina Humane Society or a charity of your choice in his memory.

Diane and families; Deepest sympathies on the passing of Leon. We both enjoyed being ‘Harvard’ colleagues of Leon. We hope the service went as well as possible and our absence was due to out of province commitments. He will be missed!
