Maier, William (Bill)

May 15, 2024

William (Bill) Maier

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our much-loved father, brother and best friend William (Bill) Maier on May 15, 2024 at the age of 70.

Bill is survived by his sons Alexei and Christian, daughter Vanessa (Tyler) and grandsons Theo and Anderson. Bill was also very close to Vanessa’s siblings who he saw as his own. Bill was predeceased by his parents Peter and Verna Maier.

Bill, the oldest of 9 children, was raised in Holdfast, SK and had a career as an accountant for SaskTel. He also worked very hard over the years to own and manage many revenue properties. Bill loved being “one with nature” and cherished his times spent at his lake cabin, with his horses on his pasture land or swimming and kayaking with the whales in Hawaii. Bill’s battle with Parkinson’s and cancer eventually limited these activities and although he was strong and fought to the end, he never showed how hard this was for him.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for giving him such wonderful care and compassion.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held by the family at a later date.

To the family of Bill Maier: I worked with Bill at SaskTel and I have so many great memories of Bill! He was such a gentleman! I remember when we walked to the Hotel Saskatchewan for lunch! It was a short walk on a very frigid day! I forgot my gloves and Bill saw that my hands were cold so he insisted I wear his warm gloves while he never had any! What a wonderful man he was in every way! Rest In Peace Bill!
