November 10, 2025

Wallace "Wally" Markwart passed away peacefully in Regina, SK on November 10, 2025, at the age of 89.
Wally is survived by his wife Pearl Markwart, daughter Lori and son-in-law Darcy Clark, son Darin and son-in-law Chris Dylke, and his grandson, Sam Bolianatz. He was one of 13 children raised by Herman and Elizabeth Markwart on their farm near Neudorf, SK, and is survived by his brothers Ray, Gordon, Leonard (Jenny), Mervin, and Jerry (Debbie) and sister Verna (Cliff).
Wally worked for 35 years with the Government of Saskatchewan, took on various accounting jobs, and had a part-time retirement job with Pioneer Housing. He provided a good life for his family, and he was happiest spending time with family and friends. Notably, he was a lifelong fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and him and Lori were season ticket holders for over 40 years.
A private service will be held to honour Wally’s life, and he will rest at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Regina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Canada. The family is grateful to Wally’s medical team, Dr. Aslam and Nurse Ashley from the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Dr. Abimboye, Dr. Macknak, and the Nurses who took care of him and his family in his final days at the Regina Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit 3A.
