Terry, our gentle giant, passed away as he had lived his life - with certainty, dignity, quiet reserve and no regrets. Although he leaves us broken hearted, we know we are better people for having had him in our lives.
Terry leaves behind his wife, Margot; parents Olga and Ivan; his sisters Carla (Chris), Pam, Krista; brother and sisters-in-law Dick, Joanne, Jean; and all the kids who called him “Uncle”: Logan, Carson, Andon, Emery; Chad (Erika), Jasmyn; Chelsea (Jon), Marissa (Dallas), Aiden (Taryn); Janice (Grant), Patrick (Stacy); Alicia (Chad), Graham (Renee); Rhys and Berit. Close on their heels, are those who knew him as ‘Great Uncle’: Austin; Aubree, Brynleigh; Olivia, Paisyn, Lexie; Jack, Isla, Wyatt, Jake; Alexander and Kashton. Terry also leaves a beloved league of aunts, uncles, cousins and life-long friends.
Terry was predeceased by his parents-in-law Alan and Elva and brothers-in-law Glen and Rod.
Terry was truly a diverse individual with a plethora of interests and passions. And if a list was created it would definitely include a love of all music (country at his core), sports (curling in particular; golfing 2nd best), theatre (Shakespeare for sure), classic movies (It’s a Wonderful Life), vintage TV (WKRP in Cincinnati his last binge), technology (made a career of it), mathematics (holding Margot to a budget!!), solving problems (without commotion), farming (in his heart of hearts), travel (thoroughly planned), chess (loved strategizing), a dram of single malt scotch (Wee Beastie a favourite) and especially Christmas (married an Elf). He also hosted a collection of fiction and non-fiction to suit anyone’s genre and so, although a man of few words in many instances, he could literally converse about anything.
Terry truly loved a good visit, so when any invitation was received, he saw that as a golden opportunity to catch-up with family or friends and he committed himself to being present at those occasions.
To that end, a gathering will be held this spring to celebrate Terry and to actualize that same golden opportunity, that he always honoured, and have a truly good visit.

Margot and Family: I was saddened to hear of Terry’s passing. I have fond memories of Terry from our time working together at SaskPower. I appreciated the projects that we worked on but more importantly I could always count on Terry for good advice and insight. I especially enjoyed our conversations about family and life.
My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Dear Margot and your Family,
We are so sorry to learn of Terry’s passing. I truly struggled to understand why this could happen to such a wonderful person.
I was fortunate to meet Terry while he was the wonderful coach of Team Rogers. Many of my Sundays I observed and learned from him too. I admired his patience and his warm personality to everyone around him. He was always so calm during stressful times and of course stressful curling games. He always found and made time to chat and show genuine interest in conversation. He treated everyone with respect and dignity. His knowledge of curling was incredible and he was always so patient and willing to lead and mentor the girls throughout the highs and lows of the grueling curling game. He always made known to take note of the positives instead of the negatives in any loss or mistake. He preached learn to lose before you can learn to win. There were times he guided and provided much needed advice, and times he felt they just needed to make a decision on their own in order to learn from any mistakes or corrections while overcoming emotions as young girls would. He was passionate about the game and I am certain the girls appreciated his strategy and advice. He was not only their coach, but their mentor and friend. He led by example and displayed true sportsmanship for the game all the time during wins and loses.
They improved as players but it’s their life skills learned I feel they will benefit most.
I truly believe Heaven gained an angel last week when Terry passed away. He made a difference to all who knew him and
the world a better place to live.
We will miss you

Very sad news indeed. I was lucky enough to meet Terry through our shared City of Regina Curling League, where Terry was the heart & soul of our league. We'll fondly remember Terry as a royal prince of a man. Rest well.

I met Terry when I was working at the Tartan Curling Culb and he was the Draw Master and organizer for the City Curling League. One couldn’t ask for a nicer person to deal with. Level headed, smart and pleasant. I was privileged to know him. My condolences to his family and many friends.
