January 26, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Susan on January 26, 2024. Susan died peacefully surrounded by her family. Susan was born on April 20, 1953 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. At an early age, the family moved to Regina, where Susan resided for the remainder of her life.
Susan was predeceased by her daughter Lisa in 1986, her son Michael in 1981, her mother and her sister Mary Lou.
Susan is survived by her loving daughter Deanna (Brent Forster) and their children Kellen, Tenley and Emily; her business partner and close friend Richard Champlone and his son Jim Champlone; her chosen sister Lynda Price; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan worked in the addiction community for 30 plus years, with 22 of those years as an addiction counselor and then program director at Pine Lodge Treatment Centre in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Upon retiring from Pine Lodge, Susan opened a treatment centre in Regina, Susan Ulmer Addiction Services. Susan has helped save many lives over the past 30 years, and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
At Susan's request, a Private Family Service will take place.

My heart goes out to Susan's surviving family and friends. I knew Susan for many years prior to her becoming an Addiction Counsellor. Susan always had a smile on her face and warmth in her heart for everyone and proved this over and over again when she became a Counsellor. Susan will be missed by all of the people she touched professionally and personally. My prayers and love go out to the family and hope they can find peace knowing that Susan is now taking care of Lisa, Michael and Shawn.

Sending my heartfelt condolences 🙏 to family and friends of Susan. Susan had such a positive impact on so many people who struggled with addictions and helped many survive that journey. Susan was a person who cut to the chase and reached out to give hope and the tools to get there to those who were hurting. We were witness to the difference it made at the Regina Community Training Residence residents as staff. Will miss your laughter Susan and the saddest and happiest stories we shared ❤

My condolences to Dick and the rest of the family. I had the pleasure of knowing Susan for nearly 30 years. She was a Godsend for me and many others suffering from an addiction. I would not be where I am today if it were not for her compassion and support. She was one of God's angels. She will be sorely missed :(
