Sandra Isabel Daku

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Isabel Daku, who left us peacefully on November 10, 2024 at the age of 79.

Born on September 7, 1945, in Swan River, Manitoba, Sandra lived a life rich in spirit, laughter, and unwavering love for her family. She was a free spirit, forever young at heart—an eternal teenager in both energy and attitude, bringing joy and lightness to those lucky enough to know her.

Sandra was predeceased by her beloved parents Hazel and John Lucas; her sister Sharron Will; and her brother Edwin Lucas.

She is survived by her children Michelle Verokosky, Dean Bakke (wife Shannon), and Dale Daku. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren Ric Verokosky, Jordan Verokosky, Dalton Bakke, Taryn Bakke, D’Shae Bussiere, and Kyran Bussiere. Sandra was also blessed with three great-grandchildren Coulter, Andie, and Hayden. She leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Sandra lived authentically and encouraged others to do the same. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and the beautiful chaos of a life lived fully and fearlessly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Paull Funeral Home, 506 – 2 Street North, Swan River, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Sandra by sharing laughter, embracing your youthful spirit, and holding your loved ones close.

Condolences

Sharon Enion

Red Deer AB Canada

My sincere condolences to all the family. She was so proud of each and every one of you. I first met Sandra over three decades ago when we became coworkers, hired to meet the challenges of district formation in health care in Saskatchewan. She was full of energy and attitude as mentioned by her family, but she brought laughter and joy into our countless union meetings. I am forever grateful for the experience of working so closely with her throughout the health care changes. Although our paths went in different directions, we kept in contact, on vacation in Arizona, Alberta and Saskatchewan and through birthday and Christmas phone calls. She was interested in our family and watched them in their sports activities over the years. She truly did live her life to the fullest.
I loved her like a sister, I hold fond memories in my heart and will miss her always. ❤️‍🩹

My heartfelt sympathy, hugs and a ton of love to you, Sandra’s precious family. She was so proud of each and every one of you. Her “generations” of love and the glow that would be on her face as she shared news or stories of her family. I was blessed to meet Sandra way back in the 90’s when she relocated to Prince Albert. We clicked right off the bat but sometimes did agree to disagree! She attended many sporting (especially hockey), dance, and music events with my family and my children. My son, Trevor, called her his other mom! I stayed with Sandra numerous times when her job relocated her yet again to Saskatoon as I completed my degree. We lost track of each other for a few years when she moved to North Battleford then when she was cruising the continent in her motor home BUT no matter where we were we always connected at Christmas to catch up and share greetings. Then by chance when she was living in Springside in her motor home at Dean and Shannon’s we met in the bathroom at at Walmart in the bathroom of all places! That became a joke between us. So I once again was blessed for over another 10 years to share a precious friendship with Sandra. We had so many conversations, trips to Texas and to Calgary; movie nights, suppers out, and lots of phone calls. I miss you my dear friend. I was also blessed to meet numerous family members and can see why you glowed with pride when we talked about family or shared pictures. RIP Sandra until we meet again.
