Salena passed away in the early evening of Friday, July 25, 2025, while surrounded by the love of Judy, David, Roberta and Dorian. She had many family, friends and loved ones visit her over the past few weeks of her life. Salena showed her strength, enduring spirit and incredible courage over the past 6 weeks, since the initial unexpected diagnosis of stage four cancer of her liver, kidney, bone and multiple lymph nodes. She was a warrior.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Ed and Mary Wright, Paul and Betty Beriault; uncles Jim Wright and Brian Beriault; second cousin Joanne Wilbur; her biological father Robert Nameth; grandfather John Nameth; as well as many other relatives on the Wright and Beriault sides.
Salena will be lovingly remembered by her life partner Raymond Nicolson; her mother Judy Wright; stepfather David Beriault; stepsister Jasmine Beriault (Zach Shaw) and their son Kylen; her son Noah and his loving mother Trish Muntain; Judy’s sibling Ed Wright (Dawn); David’s siblings Betty-Ann (Vern), Debby (Dean), Gerald (Kevin), Conrad (Debbie); sister-in-law Betty-Anne Grandy-Beriault; cousins Dorian and Damara Wright, Skylar and Alexa; grandmother Elizabeth; aunts/uncles Allan (Janet), Marlene (Lorne) and Noela Crowe-Salazar; along with numerous other cousins and special friends Jolene Walters and Bronia Rieger.
Salena was born and lived in Regina, SK her entire life. Salena attended Davin, Lakeview and Henry Braun elementary schools. She attended Sheldon Collegiate High School. She had one very special friend, Jolene Walters, who was her friend in elementary, high school and remained a dear and special friend to Salena, her entire life.
Salena had many interests including shopping, walking, going out for suppers and tea, going to parks, enjoying her pets, visiting the farm, going to the cabin, attending every fair that came to town, especially the exhibition, where she and Raymond went on as many rides as possible, Cathedral Arts festival, Mosaic, attending Pat’s hockey games, karaoke, and in the past few years playing in a pool league. Salena was known for her fun-loving spirit, spunk, sense of adventure, doing it her own way, love for her partner Raymond, her family and friends. In the past weeks the staff at the Regina Pasqua Hospital and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice all commented on what a sweet and loving person she was. She touched souls wherever she went. We wish to thank all the attending physicians, nurses and all the staff at both the Regina Pasqua Hospital and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice for the loving care that was extended to her.
She met Raymond Nicolson 18 years ago and they became inseparable, eventually sharing a small condo together and making a home. Salena and Ray “travelled Regina” always finding fun things to do. Salena had many friends who loved her, and she loved them. Salena and Ray attended many family functions, birthdays, summer BBQs, and her favorite occasion was Christmas. Salena and Raymond attended Gateway Church in Regina where they found a supportive faith family.
