Pregizer, Rudolph

August 15, 2024

Rudolph Pregizer

Rudolph was given life by his creator and was born on July 8, 1928 on his parent’s farm at Lipton, SK, the third child of Carl and Sophie Pregizer. He received the gift of Holy Baptism on August 15, 1928 and was confirmed in the Christian faith on June 13, 1943 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lipton. He spent his early years on the farm, leaving in his late teens. On January 6, 1954, he was united in holy marriage to Edna Fry. Their union was blessed with four children Dale, Audrey, Dwight and Arlene.

Rudolph was a welder by trade and worked in the road construction industry with Ramsay Roadbuilders for 43 years, learning everything in the industry from beginning to end, especially enjoying the large machinery. As long as he was outside, he was happy whether it was 30 degrees below or 30 degrees above. In his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, curling and loved driving anywhere with his beloved wife Edna. They always found somewhere to go, whether it was a bus trip to Kansas City to see the Blue Jays or a jaunt to Alaska! He was also involved in his church community with maintenance for the church building and property for many years; in later years, he enjoyed many afternoons of cards at Good Shepherd’s Seniors group as well as doing puzzles, reading and many “coffees” and visits with friends and family.

COVID-19 was not kind to him and he endured various health struggles as a result. Glaucoma left him with very little vision and as time passed, he was ready to leave this world and find heavenly peace. On Thursday, August 15, 2024 Rudolph fell asleep in Jesus at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, SK and entered his eternal home.

Rudolph was predeceased by his son Dale in 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Edna; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Pregizer, Kelcey (David) Letersky and Connor; his daughter Audrey (Daryl) Solie, Kierstin (Jose) Castillo, Anaias, Mateo and Dominic; Tyson (Jocelyn), Kinsley, Layklyn and Daxon; Justine (Taylor) Esplen, Raya and Bryson; his son Dwight (Marlene) Pregizer, Calen and Aiden (Tanner Law); his daughter Arlene (Randal) Cripps, Ashley (Ehryn Crane) Cripps, Merrick and Vyla; his sister Gertie Schmidt; sisters-in-law Adeline Bigalky, Vivian Fry and Marjorie Fry; as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Hillsdale Street, Regina, Saskatchewan with Pastor Nigel Prozenko presiding. Live streaming of the service may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/share/g9WpxbfRBZdTcYtX/. Interment will follow the lunch in Lipton Memorial Gardens, Lipton, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our beloved brother in Christ, Rudolph.

So sorry to hear the news.

At the same time, I am heartened to understand, even at this distance, that my Uncle Rudy lived a great and long life, and leaves an amazing legacy. Men like my Uncle Rudy are my heroes. Not the movie stars and the athletes. Men who build things for people. Men who build society and build happy families. You know that his life was well lived, so I hope you can be happy – even in your sadness. I only wish that I could have known him better.

Our heartfelt condolences to all your family.
