Mann, Robert "Bob"

February 4, 2024

Robert "Bob" Mann

Robert passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He fought as hard as anyone who knew him would expect. He managed his illness with grace and dignity right until the end.

Robert was born in 1947 in Station Town, Durham, England. He met the love of his life Lynn in Vancouver in 1968. They moved back to England and were married in 1969. They welcomed their first daughter Lisa in 1970. They moved back to Canada in 1972, where they welcomed their second daughter Jeanette in 1976.

Bob was an amazing cabinet and furniture maker by trade. He had numerous hobbies and interests. He loved to garden, camp, play crib, barbecue and spend time with his family. Some of our fondest memories together were times spent at Waskesiu and in the mountains. He built himself a loom and taught himself to weave. He made all of us a scarf to keep us warm. Bob didn’t find a hobby he could not master. There was no problem he couldn’t solve, and one of his many mottos was “nothing is impossible”.

Robert was predeceased by his parents Robert and Elizabeth Mann; his sister Marlene; his brother Eric; mother and father-in-law Hugh and Hazel Aikman; brothers-in-law Jim Nestor, Joe Cooper and Geoffrey Hall.

Robert is survived and will be forever missed by wife Lynn; daughters Lisa (Brad) and Jeanette (Jason); grandchildren Christopher (Marley), Matthew (Sasha), Mackenzie (Gerame), Lucas, Jade and Jessi; great-grandchildren Theo and Charlotte and a new great-granddaughter who is set to arrive shortly. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved furry companion Pepper.

Robert will also be missed by sisters-in-law Hazel (Johnston), Heather and Karen (Milton); brother-in-law Bill (Julie); sister-in-law Jessie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As per Robert’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

Our family would like to extend many thanks to all of the wonderful friends and neighbours who have helped in so many ways through the last year. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Johnson and all of the nurses and staff of Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital and Palliative Home Care for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time. Special thank you also to Dr. E. Hui for his support.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Pasqua Hospital.
